Two fun cooks from one family
About this Cook
I'm 45 years young, my two sons live at home with me. They're 21 and 19. I don't cook at home as much as I used to because of our varying schedules, but I still try to fix them something good a couple times a week. I am a cook at a preschool-kindergarten, been there for 10 years. Have cooked at other preschools previously also. I love it here because I'm the only cook and I serve family style to all the classrooms. I use the church's big catering kitchen and I do the laundry there, keep the kitchen up and since I have to work, it's as close to being a homemaker as I can get.
My favorite things to cook
I love baking desserts. I love to bake midwest meals and healthy meals. I try to make some of the things I see on recipe shows on tv, especially Lydia's Italian Kitchen on PBS. That's Italian homecookin'. I love homecookin'!
My favorite family cooking traditions
No real family traditions, other than most everything should be homemade. I can't stand store bought mixes for baked goods. I don't really liked packaged cookies either.
My cooking triumphs
Hmmm, I guess when I make a meal or dessert and everyone gushes over it. Ok, that's being a showman, but it makes me proud, and I like to please people. Hey, I like my palette to be pleased, I'm picky, so I imagine everyone should like something as much as I do. I don't like to feed them mediocre food.
My cooking tragedies
Ooo, the time in high school I made pancakes for breakfast and I put 2 t. baking soda instead of baking powder in......they tasted horrible.

Chocolate Pudding
I love this recipe and it's perfect for the little preschool I cook for. I fix lunch for about 40-55 kids and pudding is desert one day a month. I use milk instead of the Silk because it's just what we have on hand and the kids and teachers love this pudding. We used to buy the canned pudding, which is at least better than instant. Blek!! This is no problem to make at all. :)
