Shelby's Microwave Meat Loaf

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2014
Awesome! Raising three kids has made me MORE and MORE appreciative of short-cut recipes like this one! I double the sauce to serve on the side and have meatloaf (my 7 year-old's favorite!) on the table in 30 minutes flat.

Super Squash

Reviewed: May 30, 2013
Fantastic! I didn't have some of the ingredients on hand so I used what I had and it STILL turned out awesome. My 5 year old had 2 servings and my wife said it was one of the best side dishes I had made in a long time - and I do all the cooking in our house. I used Miracle Whip in place of the Mayo, and subbed a packet of dry Onion Soup mix in place of the ranch mix. This is now in the recipe box and has become a new family favorite!

Fabulous Fargozas

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2013
I made these tonight since I needed something to go with my Spaghetti dinner and they were fantastic! I substituted Greek Oregano for the Rosemary, used Garlic Salt in place of the crushed garlic, and left out the cheese since we have some dairy allergies in our house. This made 6 over-size muffins which were the perfect size for a great accompaniment to our Italian dinner. This will definitely be a new standard addition to our spaghetti meals!

E-Z Drop Biscuits

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2013
I've tried this recipe a number of times now and it has now become my family's favorite! I've found that it's very versatile and can make DISTINCTLY different biscuits based on nothing more than what you do with the butter. If you MELT the butter, like the instructions say, and pour it in with the milk, you have fantastic drop-style biscuits with no changes to the original recipe. If you GRATE cold butter into the dry ingredients before adding the milk, the drop in liquid makes a perfectly smooth traditional biscuit dough that can be rolled out and cut into biscuits that rise and give the most amazing texture. After cooking for large crowds at our church, I've found this recipe fits my rule: the simpler the better!

Smoky Grilled Pork Chops

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2013
Fantastic! Another winner for weeknight meal-in-a-hurry! A recipe with things I've always got in my pantry and that I can throw together in no time. I took others advice and used the wet ingredients as a base for the dry rub and then threw my 1-inch thick chops under the broiler (since it's February and about 40 outside) for about 5-6 minutes on each side. Perfect! Combined with some mashed potatoes, brown gravy, and a salad and even my 3-year old was asking for seconds!

Teriyaki Marinade

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2013
Super recipe! I needed something quick to throw together for dinner for the family and had nearly all of the ingredients on hand. This is a VERY forgiving recipe and even with a few ingredients missing and by just throwing in the things I had we had a terrific meal of chicken, veggies, and noodles stir-fry on the table in less than 20 minutes. Thanks for an awesome weeknight meal keeper!

Herbed Rice and Spicy Black Bean Salad

AWESOME use of leftover rice! Even with no fresh herbs on hand, and forced to substitute dried, this came out mouth-watering just as it's written. The combination of flavors and textures is superb!

Rosemary Pork Roast

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2012
Simple and Fantastic! Used all the ingredients that most anyone would have on hand in their kitchen and produced a BEAUTIFUL cut of pork. I didn't alter the recipe a bit other than to stuff the slivers of Garlic down in some holes poked in the loin and this thing came out as great as some pork dishes I've had at 5-star restaurants here in Dallas. TRY IT - you won't be disappointed.

Justin's Rice-O Mexican-O

The obligatory 5 stars from the author of the recipe - though I don't feel as bad about giving to myself since my 2 year old just ate enough of this one to earn it the rating!

Butterhorn Rolls

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2012
Fantastic!!! I made these last night for our Easter lunch today and would have never imagined that the bread would get more compliments than any of the other dishes that I worked FAR harder on! A couple of tips: 1) DO NOT ADD EXTRA FLOUR!! When you mix this dough together you will SWEAR that you've made a mistake. It will look far more like a batter than a dough, but after a long night in the fridge your "dough" will emerge as a beautiful, light, and fluffy dough that will produce some of the lightest and fluffiest rolls you will ever eat! 2) 1/2 inch is a little thick for a roll. I rolled these out to at least 1/4 inch (if not a little thinner) and when rolled up into a crescent they came out beautiful! Give these a shot! You can't go wrong!

Amish White Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2012
My absolute go-to bread recipe even in a recipe box overflowing with bread recipes! By simply following the steps you can't go wrong and this is quite possibly the most versatile and adaptable bread recipe on the entire site. I've made it just as written and gotten rave reviews and taken other's advice, dropped the sugar to around 1/4 cup, and had the same people raving again! The sugar content definitely makes all the difference in the world with more sugar equaling a denser bread. I've used this recipe to make everything from sweet breakfast breads to salty herb-filled Italian bread by tweaking the sugar and add-ins and just couldn't be happier with it either way. Take the time to give this one a shot and you may just toss your other recipes - with this one, one is all you need!

Chef House's "Mature Moment" Biscuits

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2011
Best biscuit recipe I've found yet! Easy enough to make for breakfast with my 17 month old running around my legs and a hungry 135lb Mastiff growling at me and still come out perfect in no time with no changes at all to the original recipe!

Overnight Cinnamon Rolls I

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2011
I made this one to spec to be fair and found a number of serious problems: 1. The dough comes out extremely dense for a cinnamon roll - I even cut back by almost a full 1/2 cup and, while the rolls rose in the oven, they were still quite heavy. 2. The filling was terribly dry - I think this could have been influenced by the consistency of the dough, but while the lack of any kind of fat (i.e. butter) in the filling may make these a little healthier there was nothing to allow the cinnamon/brown sugar mix to properly melt and give that gooey consistency you tend to crave in a cinnamon roll! (Besides, who's going for healthy in a cinnamon roll anyways?) 3. The icing needs some major work - this is little more than a basic sugary glaze. Combined with the sand-like brown sugar/cinnamon filling which dissolved into pure sugar in your mouth, this topping was the sugary straw that broke the camels back and simply overpowered the entire recipe. I was interested to try a new recipe, but know now that I'll stick with my original cinnamon roll recipe - "Clone of a Cinnabon" - also from Allrecipes

Justin's Stolen Taco Meat Seasoning Recipe

Reviewed: May 27, 2011
Fantastic flavor! I'm a spice-loving man so I doubled the ingredients for 1.5 lbs of ground beef and took the advice of another reviewer to brown my meat in water. You would have thought you just sat down to dinner at your favorite Tex-Mex restaurant! This one is definitely going in my box as the go-to taco recipe. Thanks for a super recipe!

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2011
Perfect! I MIGHT have added just a touch of cinnamon and a tsp or so of vanilla, but nothing that would fundamentally changed the recipe and it could not have been better. Far and away the best banana bread recipe I've ever tried. I mixed up everything other than the dry ingredients in my KitchenAid - threw everything in at once - and then folded in the dry ingredients by hand. Only two dishes to clean up. I then baked on the next to lowest rack in the oven for about 50-55 minutes and it came out browned and beautiful, smelling like banana heaven! Look no further - the banana bread recipe for everyone is right here!

Cinnamon Coffee Cake II

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2011
ABSOLUTELY fantastic! Don't change a thing if you don't have to! The only thing I modified was I was to leave out the nuts because of a 3 year old who is allergic. I have never tasted a more delicious and moist coffee cake! Couple that with the incredible simplicity of this recipe and you've got a 5-star recipe that is my new go-to for breakfasts and family get-togethers. Thanks so much for the amazing recipe!
