About this Cook
I've been baking ever since I was little, when my dad would let me stir the flour, salt, and baking soda mixture for Nestle Tollhouse cookies. Now I'm all grown up and I love trying new recipes on I used to be just a meat and potato kind of girl in Pittsburgh, and today I'll eat just about anything, except the more taboo stuff. I studied creative writing and publishing in Pennsylvania. I'm currently job seeking in LA.
My favorite things to cook
I am more experienced as a baker since that has always been a shared hobby with my family. Christmas is a huge baking event at home. In LA, I cook an Italian pasta dish once a week for something simple. I'm always looking for new chicken and fish recipes. I also started making wine and beer.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Baking cookies, pies, and making fudge.
My cooking triumphs
I just follow the recipe. I don't really see them as triumphs.
My cooking tragedies
We'll see how this pinto bean pie turns out. I'll let you know.

Candied Sweet Potatoes
Very good. Great with a Southern meal with greens and fried chicken. Easy to make.

Pinto Bean Pie II
My boyfriend bought a bunch of dried pinto beans, and I wondered "what am I going to do with all of these?" This was one of the recipes that came through my search, and it intrigued me. I added a teaspoon of vanilla, some more nuts (about half a cup, or a little more), and I needed to bake it about 20 more minutes until the filling was set. But I must say, it was eaten up very quickly. It turned out better than I expected.
