About this Cook
We are a mother and daughter team who both enjoy cooking and cooking with each other. Jules' specialty is desserts, and she has made a mean blueberry pie. Mom cooks everything but is looking for large quantity recipes that she can prepare for her large family.
My favorite things to cook
We love to bake desserts, soups, breads, crock pot recipes and breakfast foods.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I would say I was raised on Pennsylvania Dutch type recipes.
My cooking triumphs
Cheesecakes! Beautifuly, crack free, dense, delicious cheesecakes
My cooking tragedies
I was preparing a red velvet cake for Christas dinner. As I was pulling it out of the oven, I hit the edge of the pan with the edge of the oven, and flipped the pan, emptying it of it's contents. Of course the cake was ruined, and I had to make a new one. But the kids loved the opportunity to eat a little extra red velvet cake.

Gluten-Free White Bread for Bread Machines
Okay, this was my first attempt to making any gluten free bread and my daughter really liked it. I did make some substitutions due to lack of ingredients, and the fact that my daughter can't eat soy. So here are my substitutsions: agave for the honey 1 Tbsp of vinegar in 2 % milk for the buttermilk Teff flour for the soy flour Brown rice flour for the White rice flour I have a setting on my bread machine for gluten free bread and so I used that. It came out a little underdone, so I threw it in a 350 oven for about 15 minutes. Overall we're quite happy. I'm going to reduce the rice flour and add some nut/bean flours instead and try that. =)
