About this Cook
I'm a teacher turned floral designer who loves to cook.
My favorite things to cook
I'll try almost anything. Baking is one of my favorite things to do, but I really like to experiement with entrees.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving brings wonderful memories of making Grandma Beckham's cornbread dressing, Ahhh! the aroma. We make great holiday cookies and fruitcakes from recipes passed down. And, being from Texas, we make a mean supper of brisket, pinto beans, potato salad, and homemade sourdough rolls.
My cooking triumphs
Recently, I got a flan recipe from allrecipes.com and made it. It was absolutely "to-die-for". When I was teaching I made all kinds of pies for my fellow teachers for the holidays. That was so much fun.
My cooking tragedies
When I was engaged to be married, I made a peach cobbler. It smelled so good while it was baking. My fiance put a forkful into his mouth and looked at me with a confused expression. I had used salt instead of sugar.

Pumpkin Chiffon Pie
I don't know why this recipe doesn't have a total of five stars. It is fantastic. My mother has made it for years and I have taken up her tradition. It's the most light and fluffy pie you'll ever have. Then once in a while you make a regular pumpkin pie which is fabulous, but just totally different from the chiffon. It's a little extra work, but it is wonderful.

Linda's Fake and Bake Chicken
My family and I liked this even better than fried chicken.

Macaroni And Cheese II
We love this recipe. I added some shredded Colby into the mix and on top. I also used whole milk, which made it extra creamy. We'll be making this again!
