Avocado and Cilantro Soup

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2009
I did not care for this even though I love all of the ingredients listed. I made it exactly per the recipe and I felt like I was eating liquified quacamole. After eating several bites I tried to spice it up with more hot sauce, cilantro and lime but...it just didn't do it for me.

Cilantro, Avocado, Tomato, and Feta Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2009
This was really good but I didn't care for the feta cheese in it. I usually love feta cheese but I thought it took away from the fresh flavors of the vegetables. I will try it again without the cheese and I bet it will be wonderful.

Brazilian Chicken with Coconut Milk

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2009
Excellent!!! My boyfriend and I loved this recipe. I rubbed the spice mixture on the chicken a few hours before I cooked the dish. I also sliced the chicken into chunks after cooking it and returned it back to the sauce to simmer for about 5 minutes. I think I will add basil at the end next time as advised by another reviewer. Delicious!

Joel's Jerk Chicken Pineapple Pasta

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2009
This was good. I took the advice of others and only added a dash of cinnamon. My only problem was it didn't make much sauce. I might add some coconut milk next time to make it saucier. Very good flavors though. I will try again and make a few changes.

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2009
I haven't found a pumpkin bread recipe that comes close to Trader Joe's pumpkin bread mix that comes in a box available in the Fall only. This recipe was as good as Trader Joes and made a ton. I made one bread loaf and a dozen muffins to bring to work. Now I can have pumpkin bread all year long! I made the bread exactly as the recipe says and added 2 tsp vanilla.

Shepherd's Pie VI

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2008
Delicious! I used twice as much cheese and added minced garlic and worcestershire sauce to lean ground sirloin. It turned out fantastic. I was a little hesitant about mashing up the carrots but it was delicious. I will definitely make this again. Great comfort food for a winter night.

Perfect Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2008
This really is the perfect pumpkin pie! My boyfriend said it was better than his mother's homemade pumpkin pie. Not too sweet and not too much of an overwhelming pumpkin flavor. Absolutely delicious!

Baked Ziti with Sausage

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2008
Very good. I used hot Italian sausage, added sauteed mushrooms, and fresh basil/oregano. The mushrooms added a nice flavor.

Pear and Blue Cheese Salad

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2008
Better than 5 stars!!! I made this salad exactly as it's listed and it was awesome. I had a ton of dressing left over. Since there are so many great ingredients and flavors in this salad a little bit of dressing went a long way. All of the ingredients in this salad complimented each other. I will pass this recipe off to my friends and definitely make again.

Beef Stroganoff III

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2008
Other than using fresh mushrooms, I made this dish exactly as it's listed. It was good but it lacked flavor for me. Next time I will try some of the variations the reviewers recommended. I served it over flat noodles. Next time I will serve it over rice and maybe the rice will soak of more of the flavor. I will give this a second chance because of all of the yummy ingredients and make some changes to add flavor.

Pumpkin Pancakes

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2008
I made these exactly per the recipe. My boyfriend, (the pumkin lover) gave them a 5+ star rating. I'm not a big fan of pumpkin so I thought they were just average but he raved about them so I'm giving them a 5 star rating. Easy to make and had plenty of batter for the next morning's breakfast.

Parmesan Garlic Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2008
Excellent! I took everyone's advice and only used about 1/8 tsp of garlic salt and more garlic powder. I also used fresh chopped basil because I had a bunch on hand. The bread turned out wonderful. I will definitely make this again.

Tomato Spinach and Basil Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2008
Wonderful soup! I cooked the onion and garlic for about 10 minutes, until very soft. I also used a stick hand blender and blended the soup prior to adding the spinach and basil to make it very smooth and creamy. It turned out wonderful. I paired it with garlic parmesan french bread. I will definitely make this again!

Incredibly Cheesy Turkey Meatloaf

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2008
Very good! I cut the recipe in half as I'm only cooking for two. I cubed the cheese just as the recipes calls for and it turned out perfect. I also used a generous amount of black pepper seasoning salt, minced, fresh garlic, and about 1/2 cup of chooped onion. It turned out very tasty. I will definitely make this again.

Spicy Basil Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2008
I love this recipe!!! I made it last night and made no modifications. It was absolutely declicious. My boyfriend ate what was supposed to be leftovers for the next day! Don't be discouraged by the chili oil or the oyster sauce, which by the way, I had never used before. I will make this again and again and pass it on to my friends. Thank you for a great recipe!

Caramelized Onions on the Grill

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2008
The only problem I had with this recipe is that I should've made more!!! I used two large Vidalia onions for a group of 6 people. I should've made 1 onion per person. I left out the beef bouillion cube (because I didn't have any) and instead sprinkled a generous amount of seasoning salt and garlic powder. Other than that I cooked just as the recipe says on the BBQ. One thing I will do differently next time is I won't cut up the onions as small as I did because when they cook they shrink down dramatically. Other than that they were absolutely delicious and all of my guests loved them...even the picky eaters!

Rosemary Ranch Chicken Kabobs

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2008
These were a hit at my BBQ last night. Everyone gobbled them up! I only added 1 tsp of salt, completely left out the sugar, and marinated them for over two hours. I used chicken tenders instead of cutting chicken breasts into cubes. I weaved the tenders onto skewers without cutting them. I then placed them on the grill for 10 minutes, turning them once. They were absolutely delicious. Many of my guests asked for the recipe. I will make these again for sure!

Sheryl's Baked Potatoes

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2008
Delicious...however, the potatoes were still a little crunchy even after cooking for 65 minutes. I sprinkled a generous amount of seasoning salt and garlic powder over the potatoes, then drizzled with butter. Cooked them for 60 minutes then sprinkled cooked chopped bacon, chopped green onions and chedder cheese over them. Cooked for an additional 5 minutes and served with sour cream on top. They were very good, although still a little crunchy. I would recommend cooking until you are sure they are completely soft then adding your toppings then cooking an additional 5 minutes.

Roast Beef with Coffee

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2008
This turned out pretty good but I wish I rubbed a bit more seasoning on the roast prior to putting in the slow cooker. I used some of the tricks mentioned in other reviews like marinating it in red wine vinegar for a few hours. I also added 1/2 can of beef broth. The meat was very tender and juicy after 6 hours of cooking on low. Try rubbing it with a lot of salt/pepper/garlic/onion powder...whatever you like prior to cooking for added flavor.
