About this Cook
I grew up in the heart of the Appalachian mountains where we lived on good ol' down home cooking... hearty meals meant for hard working people. Now that I live in New Jersey, I'm expanding my tastes and I love all types of food, but nothing beats my roots of WV!
My favorite things to cook
I tend to love baking more than anything... but as long as someone else will clean up, I'll cook.
My favorite family cooking traditions
The things I remember the most are holidays, especially Thanksgiving and Christmas. My family always went all out. My grandmother was a wonderful cook who never measured anything. At Christmas my mother's cookies were known by all! They were the most anticipated treat of the season. I miss those days.
My cooking triumphs
I'm mastering some of my grandmother's old-time recipes. No gourmet for me.

Big Soft Ginger Cookies
I don't usually rate recipes, but I had to for this one. I'm an experienced baker, but after this flopped I've read and re-read the recipe to try to find my mistake, but I followed this to a tee and it was BAD! My cookies were flat, greasy, crunchy-edged and strangely flavored.

Smooth Sweet Tea
This is highly addictive!! I've made it twice this week and I'm trying to watch my caffeine intake... This is the perfect sweet iced tea! No need to buy it anymore!

Mom's Cucumber Salad
Great flavors!! Love the ease of preparation. My ONLY complaint is that mine is very watery. I made it yesterday evening and this morning it is pretty watery. I guess next time I'll try the salt trick I've read about. Otherwise, it would have been 5 stars for taste and ease!
