Southern-Style Crowder Peas

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2013
Loved it!! My picky husband and friend said it was one of their favorite meals I've made. His friend even told me he'd pay me to make it for him he liked it so much lol! The peas portion I made very little changes. I omitted the parsley, used a whole bay leaf and removed it when done. I added a little extra water at the end and 1lb of Polish sausage cut up. Did not use ham.

Healing Cabbage Soup

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2013
Love this soup, it's my new favorite! I wanted to bang my head against the wall every time I got cabbage in my CSA box(not a slaw fan), now I finally have a plan for all that cabbage! It's a great recipe, but I felt it wasn't complete with out a meat substance so I added Polish sausage links, browned and cut up. I have the freezer stocked up and ready for winter.

Brazilian Collards

Reviewed: May 20, 2013
5 Star! Love these, best collards I've ever had. So good my super picky husband ate them and actually liked them. I used regular bacon(it's what I had on hand), and only used 1/4 of the cayenne, it was just the right amount of kick! I used 2 1/4 cups of chicken stock, only because I make and freeze my own and that's how I had it frozen...even with the extra chicken stock the collards were not soupy.

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2009
This was delicious, and I swore I didn't like meatloaf! We did not add onion (I can't even mention the addition of onions around my boyfriend) other then that made is just as the recipe stated and it was so good, my boyfriend even said it was better then his mother's meatloaf! Served with garlic mashed potatoes and green beans

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2009
Loved it!! I added in a couple of changes based on the reviews...Instead of onion I added just a little onion powder, other then the soup I added about 1.5 cans of water (we had no chicken broth). I cooked two very large chicken breasts on low for six hours, then shredded with a fork. At that time I added the biscuit dough and cooked on high for 30min. I only used one can of biscuits and that was almost more then enough. I split the biscuits (tops and bottoms)flattened them and cut into strips using a pizza cutter. I also seasoned the dough with a little salt and pepper. All and all I thought it came out perfect, and my boyfriend had two big bowls for dinner and took some with him to work the next day! Real winner in our house and the perfect comfort food A+

Famous Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2008
Very yummy! I used Club Crackers, and a very small amount of butter around the chops but not on top. Cooked 10min then flipped so the bottoms wouldn't be soggy. Cooked another 5min then put swiss cheese on top. Melted and served.
