Duck with Honey, Soy, and Ginger

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2009
I made this for dinner last night, and it was a big hit with my family. None of us had ever had duck before, and instead of using the breast, we had legs. Even with the tough meat of the legs, the end result was still a very delicious, tender meal. I served it with parsley potatoes and a spinach salad. I reccomend serving this with bread, so you can soak up some of the delicious sauce. Also, some other reviewers commented that the sauce was too salty. I guess you could say that it was rather salty, but I did not feel that it was too salty. I think that it would be easy to adjust the ingredients; maybe a little bit less rice wine? Anyway, I highly reccomend this recipe. Thanks for posting!

Hawaiian Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2009
I had high hopes for this recipe, really I did. I was a little bit worried because of the lack of flour, but because of all the other positive reviews, I thought I would give it a try. It smelled heavenly in the oven, but about a half hour before it was supposed to be done, it smelled burnt. When I looked, smoke was pouring out of the oven! I pulled it out, and even though it still seemed too moist, I tried to turn it over onto a serving dish. What I ended up with was a huge... towering... blob. The outside looked like burnt jello, greasy glisten and all. I have to admit, I didn't want the cake to be a total waste of good ingredients, so I picked out a relatively safe looking portion from the inside. It tasted only average, nothing special. After it sat for a while the tast improved, but I will not be making this again.

Big Soft Ginger Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2008
These are wonderful! It was a real challenge to resist eating the batter before I baked the cookies, and after baking, the wait was well worth it. The only change I would make is to add a little bit more ginger for even more ping. I didn't even have to flatten these; they were so moist! Yummy!

Thick Chocolate Pudding

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2008
This was great! I added a little bit of extra cocoa powder, and it was perfect. The only problem; I hardly got any! My friends ate most of it before I could. I will definately make this again. Very quick, easy, and tastey!

Brazilian Lemonade

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2008
I made this exactly as the recipe directed, and I had to throw most of it out. I think if I just slice the limes and squeeze the juice into the blend instead of blending in the peels as well, this would be a big improvement. The end result was very difficult to strain, and it was way too bitter. I added extra sugar, but even then it was too sour for anyone in my family to enjoy. Sorry!

Grandma's Onion Rings (Southern Style)

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2008
One word: Delicious! I made these for my dad today, and he said they were just like how his own mother used to make them. He had almost forgotten about them, but now I know we'll be eating a lot of these.

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

Wonderful stuff! :) The only thing I would change would be to slightly reduce the amount of oil.
