About this Cook
I am 25 years old. I'm married with 2 kids. I have a 4 1/2 year old step-daughter, and an almost one year old baby boy. I'm a stay at home mom. I don't cook as much as I used to, now that I've got kids. But hopefully that will change once they're a little older. I love to cook, as does my husband.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake. I'll bake almost any kind of dessert. I'm always trying new recipes I find, and take them to family gatherings. Most of them have been a hit. My husband loves Asian food. I've tried quite a few dishes, that have turned out well. I love to try new salad recipes. Especially to take to summer BBQ's. I do all of the grilling at our house, meats mostly. But the best thing I've ever thrown on the grill is pineapple. Just rub a little bit of brown sugar on it, and grill each side for a couple minutes; awesome!
My favorite family cooking traditions
When my sister and I were both living at home, we used to cook dinner once a month for our parents. This is when I really started to learn to cook on my own, and haven't stopped since. My sister on the other hand....
My cooking triumphs
I am the one to always make dessert for family gatherings. One that my family still raves about is this chocolate cake I made. It was a layered cake, with chocolate ganache and raspberry mousse. Then covered in ganache. Really rich, but really good.
My cooking tragedies
One time I was cooking to surprise my husband, (then boyfriend). I found some new Asian recipes I thought he might like. Boy, was I wrong. The worst one was this butternut squash with yakisoba, lets just say it was nasty!

Fish Tacos with Honey-Cumin Cilantro Slaw and Chipotle Mayo
I loved the honey glaze to put on the fish, it kind of reminded me of the crust on deep fried ice cream. Yum! I found the chipotle mayo to be quite hot so I added a little bit of sour cream and sugar. I also added some lime juice and milk, to thin it out, as I found it to be a little thick to mix with the cabbage. I had some wonderful cherry tomatoes that I quartered and added too. But other than that, it was pretty tasty. Instead of spreading some of the mayo mix on the tortilla, I put some sourcream and mango lime salsa instead. Tried it as a "po'boy" as well.

Tangy Dill Potato Salad
This potato salad is awesome! I had my parents over for a bbq and had made this for the first time, it was great, my mom even went back for seconds, which she rarely does! My step dad can't stop raving about it.
