Cinnamon Coffee Cake II

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2009
This recipe is exceptional with a few minor changes. No butterscotch pudding and instead two packages of instant vanilla. Add more well chopped walnuts. Also, three eggs worked better for me. Thank you, this coffee cake went so fast the first time I didn't even get a piece!!!

Peanut Butter Cup Cookies II

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2009
So Good Didn't have any brown sugar so I added more white sugar and peanutbutter. Didn't use peanutbutter cups but instead Reeses' Pieces and they worked great

Swedish Meatballs

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2008
Marvelous! Did have some problems when the meat left burnt brown bits on the skillet, the flour/milk mixture had burnt pieces mixed in. I had to make the mixture in a different skillet. Besides that one issue, the taste was delicious. I didn't have poppy seeds so I mixed the egg noodles with freshly ground peppercorn, lemon pepper, and dried parsley. Yum, yum!

Steve's Chicken Korma

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2008
Quite delicious with a few changes... For more flavor, I bumped up all the spices to 1 teaspoon, added lots of curry powder, and, as suggested by others, used 2 cloves of garlic. To be even healthier and for convenience, I avoided the heavy cream (plus didn't have it on hand anyway) and added some flour to thicken. Fresh tomatoes and slivered almonds are the way to go for the perfect texture and taste. To add to this, I also added about 15 oz of garbanzo beans or chickpeas . Great, I got lots of compliments!

Spinach Chickpea Curry

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2008
Quite good with some pita bread! my family might have been strangely ravenous that night, but for some reason 4 servings didn't really fill up 3 people. Still, the taste is great with lots of garam marsala and cumin.

Pasta with Tomato Cream Sauce

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2008
Simple, yet super good!!! I made this for some family and a friend when I was first learning how to cook. Now, quite frequently, that friend asks me to make it for her (since she herself doesn't cook much). I always serve this with some garlic bread. YUMMY!!!

Easy Vegetarian Corn Chowder

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2008
I hate to give a review like this, but I can't honestly let it go. I made this for my dad last winter and the soup turned into an inedible mess. I followed all the directions and even consulted the reviews of the other cooks. Still, we each tried to grin and bear it, but after 3 bites we couldn't handle it. Maybe I missed something in the instructions...

Unsloppy Joes

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2008
Didn't even use any tomato paste or celery. Instead, used 1 green bell pepper and only 1/2 freshly diced tomato. For spices, I used paprika, cumin, red pepper, black pepper, salt, and dinosaur barbecue cajun spice (in amounts that seasoned the mixture to my personal tastes). When everything was in skillet, one must "mash" the beans with spatula in order to get more of a sloppy joe like texture. I added white wine vinegar to mixture sparingly and slowly, otherwise it tends to cover up the other spices. After making these changes, the recipe was amazing. It's a keeper!

Spiced Apples

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2008
For some reason, none of the grocery stores near me carried red hots (very strange!). My review may not be completely accurate when showing my impression of the recipe's results (because I left out a pretty vital element). Still, already having purchased the apples, I prepared them without red hots and instead with some ground cinnamon and nutmeg...they turned out great! Served over some vanilla ice cream, they were gone in a minute---no leftovers whatsoever. Very yummy and easy to make! thank you!

Clams Kokkinisto

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2008
Delicious, though I had to change some ingredient amounts due to how little or how much I had on hand. Even when using less garlic (only 2 cloves) and plenty of oregano, red pepper, and crushed bay leaves, this recipe was still great. Unluckily (surprising too, when compared to the picture next to the recipe), there wasn't enough volume to the sauce to really cover the pasta. It turned out looking kind of like seafood style spaghetti and meatballs. Still, the aroma and taste were wonderful. The advice to top with feta cheese really helped to make the meal!
