About this Cook
I'm no chef, nor do I want to be; I'm just a soon-to-be wife who loves food and loves to cook it!! I used to be one of those people who was like, OMG I EVEN FAIL AT HAMBURGER HELPER, but when I moved out and started to cook for myself, things actually came out really tasty! (It must run in the family?) I still make mistakes once in awhile, but cooking is so fun that I'll never stop enjoying it! It truly is an art form :D
My favorite things to cook
I like to make up stir-fries with different veggie, meat, and sauce/seasoning combos. I also enjoy baking, but it's a little harder. Somehow things still come out tasting yummy. More than anything, I just find daily joy in coming up with something to make for dinner and being creative with it. I'm an artist, and it reminds me of making an illustration...gives me the same feeling of satisfaction when it's all done.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I still haven't obtained all the family recipes from my mom. Her mom (my grandma), who was from Guatemala, used to make some tasty, ethnic dishes.
My cooking triumphs
I made a German chocolate cake for my fiance last spring! I toiled on it for like 2 hours...and man was it good. I'll never make cake from a box ever again.
My cooking tragedies
Even though it tasted awesome, the frosting on the cake looked like someone had puked on it! Plus the layers were lopsided, even though I tried to even them out, hah.

Pizza Dough III
Perfect! Exactly what I needed. Next time I'm going to prebake just the crust for about 5 minutes so that it cooks all the way without burning the cheese. Last time I made breadsticks with the leftover dough, and it was SO DELICIOUS with just butter and garlic.

Homemade Butter
This was not even half as easy or delicious as everyone else makes it sound. How disappointing... I'd like to try again, but I'm going to look up a more detailed set of instructions. Some of the comments suggest that a lot more labor needs to go into this than simply squeezing the buttermilk out with a spoon (which only made a mess for me).

Spicy Garlic Lime Chicken
The only thing I did differently was use real garlic and onion, and being too impatient to measure everything I just threw the ingredients in a pot. I added a little water now and then to keep everything from burning into the pan too. I can't even understand how something so simple turned into something so incredibly delicious! That never seems to happen when I make up my own ingredients to throw in the pot!
