Lebanese Chicken and Potatoes

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2008
the chicken was soooo juicy and tender with a crispy delicious skin and the potatoes were perfectly done i substituted vinegar for the lemon juice and it was still great probably one of the best chicken recipes i have ever made i hardly ever give recipes 5 stars but i can't see any improvements needed on this one i just made it for the second time and am still revelling in the yumminess of it all...mmm mmm

Korean Spicy Chicken and Potato (Tak Toritang)

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2008
A pretty good chicken dish except that it could be a LOT more spicier otherwise the sauce itself is not bad at all

Chicken Makhani (Indian Butter Chicken)

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2008
i was a bit disappointed with this recipe because it tasted too tomato-ey and musty for me...although my bf liked it, he said that it was a bit on the tangy-sour side..i bought instant butter chicken mix once and thought that was a bit better

Basic Bechamel Sauce

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2008
very delicious and creamy I omitted the nutmeg and it was still fantastic! I used it for pasta. easy, simple and a great basic recipe to keep on hand.

Spanakopita II

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2008
scrumptious and flavourful...i dont think using salt in the spinach mixture is necessary because i didnt, the feta cheese adds enough saltiness and flavour to them

Porcupines

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2008
very good, a bit bland cause i didnt add the full amount of salt, it seems like a bit much in the recipe but next time ill use the full amount...i got a pleasant surprise when i opened the oven, they really do look like porcupines! filling and hearty!

healthy and delicious, except I added a teaspoon of salt to the mix...it will be too bland without it

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies I

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2009
unbelievably delicious, these were the best cookies I've EVER had, I'm not even exaggerating I would wake up in the middle of the night with a craving for these, chocolate dough with choc chips with nuts...i added walnuts AND slivered almonds...the most heavenly combination!

Favorite Pot Roast

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2009
good recipe, roast turned out flavorful and tender just make sure you watch it, i left mine on the stove too long and all the drippings evaporated, and bottom was bit burnt...no drippings left for the gravy! :(

Mom's Country Gravy

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2009
This is much too bland. I used butter instead of the oil as well. I ended up adding about 1/2 cup of soy sauce to it which turned it a nice brown color and added some much needed flavour..the texture of this recipe is not bad though, so would be a good base for additional ingredients...but on its own, not great

Dash's Donair

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2009
Very authentic, one of the rare recipes that resembles the real thing. very impressed, also the meat held together very well, like at the donair shops, i followed the instruction to "throw" the meat with force...haha....good way to release tension...although the sauce was a bit too runny and made triple of what was needed, or else i would have rated 5 stars, i think at the shops the sauce is more thick, but the taste is very similar! Delicious, and i kept this one in my cookbook for the future

Lighter Banana Muffins

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2009
even though these are light they dont sacrifice taste, they are good muffins except if you follow the recipe exactly the batter is really stiff almost like a dough and the muffin turns out good but a tad rubbery

Old Fashioned Apple Pie

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2009
This pie tastes good but it really is quite runny, while it was baking, the juices from the pie poured down in a steady stream onto the pan that i thankfully had under it, but after allowing the pie to cool down, the juices set and it gets less runny. i would still add more flour. i wont make this again, ill try a different recipe next time

Salmon Patties I

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2009
More delish than I expected ! I started with raw ground salmon from my grocers & marinated it in half tsp salt and pepper before mixing with other ing. I thought the canned salmon would make it too dry & the fresh ground salmon adds a lot more flavour and better texture. Only thing I would change is mincing the onion before adding it would taste even better I think

California Roll Sushi

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2009
not bad, but traditional sushi rice should have a bit of salt in it. the correct method is to add about 1 tsp salt per three cups of rice, you dissolve the salt with the sugar in the vinegar, so for one cup rice, it would be about 1/3 tsp salt. otherwise, this would be perfect.

Smoked Salmon Sushi Roll

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2009
ive been making sushi for a while now and this is a very good version, i used my own sushi rice recipe, which has more vinegar which i prefer but used all the ingredients in the recipe...great combination of ingredients...i felt like i was at a japanese restaurant while being seduced by every bite as i ate it with my eyes closed mmm...yes it was that good...the smoked salmon is amazing in this recipe..make sure to use the raw kind, or else it wont be the same

Mom's Pretzels

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2009
Very delicious. boiling them really gives them a good texture so dont skip that part! the only thing i would suggest is lightly greasing the baking pan before putting on the pretzels, because they will require a bit of coaxing to get off the pan after baking if you dont.
