These were very good and easy to make. They were not quite as moist as I would have liked, but good.

Smokin' Scovilles Turkey Chili

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2011
My chili is not quite done...but is bubbling away in the crock pot and I have tasted it and can I just say YUMMY. I only made a couple of changes to suit my family's taste. I used a couple of pablano peppers instead of the hot peppers and bell peppers, I was out of red pepper flakes, I left out the corn and used 3 types of beans, and used a large can of crushed tom. and a can of fire roasted diced tom. I didn't really measure the beer...just dumped in enough to get the consistancy I wanted and added about a cup of strong coffee to the mix. I will have to try your spicy version and make it for my dad who loves his food spicy. Thanks for the great recipe. I never thought of adding cocoa, worchestershire, liqued smoke...they add the flavor my chili was always missing before. LOVE IT!

Awesome Ham Pasta Salad

Reviewed: May 19, 2011
I just made this and it is AWESOME! I bought some pasta, ham, and veggies so I could throw together a pasta salad for a night I didn't want to cook and came looking for dressing ideas. I did change the veggies that are included in the recipe...but the dressing (the real star of the show here) I made as written only subbing dill for sweet pickles as I hate sweet pickles:). For veg. I used gr. pepper, gr. onions, celery, broccoli, tomatoes, and cucumber. The red onion and sweet bell peppers would def. make this more colorful as my salad is all green;). It is delish and will def. use this as my pasta salad dressing fave from now on. Thanks for a great salad!

Mimi's Giant Whole-Wheat Banana-Strawberry Muffins

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2011
These were pretty good. I made them as written except I used vanilla Greek yogurt instead of applesauce because that is what I had on hand and I added 1/4 tsp of salt. They were very moist. They could use a little more flavor. I also had some issues with the strawberries making them soggy in places. I think I will try leaving out the strawberries and adding another banana and maybe some nutmeg or allspice and walnuts.

Vodka Collins

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2011
Easy to make and refreshing. I also tried it with a splash of grenidine and that was tasty. Next time I think I will add a touch more sweet and sour mix.

Nanna's Banana Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2011
Way to go Nanna! I am always looking for the better banana bread recipe and this one was WONDERFUL! I needed to use up some bananas and I also had buttermilk in the fridge that was going to waste so this worked great for me. I made the recipe as stated except for using brown sugar instead of white. I added 4 small bananas and made 2 small loaves instead of 1 large. I put walnuts in one loaf and choc. chips in the other and they were both great. It took about 35min for the smaller loaves to bake. YUM! I plan to use this recipe from now on. Thanks for a keeper.:P

Brooke's Best Bombshell Brownies

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2011
I just tried making these for my husband's birthday because he loves brownies. I followed the recipe as is was written and I don't know what happened, but they were BAD! The batter was very thick and they came out of the oven dry and crumbly. I took them out after 30min-if I had gone 35-40 they would have been toast. They cracked and did not look at all appetizing-nothing "fudgy" or "gooey" about them. They did not taste good at all. I have gone over and over this recipe...checked and double checked to see that I didn't miss anything...checked my oven temp. These cannot be the brownies that everyone is raving over. Thank goodness I happened to have a box mix laying around the pantry or hubby would really have been disappointed. Sorry...

Simple Scones

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2011
These were so good and so easy to make! I made them in my food processor and it took no time at all to whip up a couple of batches. I made one batch of orange/cranberry and one batch of mocha chip (2T instant coffee dissolved in 2tsp of hot water and 1/2 cup chocolate chips). For the mocha scones, I used sugar free chips and whole wheat flour which made for a grainier texture. Both batches were yummy! Thanks for this sooo simple recipe! I can't wait to try more flavors!

Coffee Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2010
Delicious Cookies!! I followed the recipe almost exactly except for using walnuts instead of almonds and chopped dark chocolate in place of the chocolate chips. These are very rich and yummy cookies. My 13yr old loved them, the younger kids not so much:). The only problem I had was that this made a very thick dough and the cookies were not spreading at all while baking. I pressed them down a little during baking and they came out fine. Next time I will just flatten the dough out a bit before baking...because there WILL be a next time-YUMMO!

White Chili I

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2010
This was Yummy!! I made this almost as written with only a couple of changes. I added a 16oz jar of salsa verde and ended up leaving out the chilis because the salsa was a bit spicy and I wanted my kids to eat this (or I would've added the chilis too). I was out of oregano so I used 2tsp of Italian seasoning. I added an extra can of beans. I thickened it with some cornstarch and water, but it was still a bit thin in the end so I added a cup of potato buds. It turned out great and my family ate it up! I did have one bowl leftover and had it for lunch today...it is better the next day! I WILL be making this again!

Black-Eyed Pea Salad II

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2010
I love beans of any kind, but my family doesn't like them. I am always looking for ways to prepare beans that are simple and quick to prepare and easy to scale down to a serving or two. This fit the bill. I had to make a couple of substitutions as I made this spur of the moment and did not have a couple of the ingredients on hand...It was still yummy (I'm sure I would like it better as written:) I halved the recipe and used 1/2 can diced tomatoes instead of sun-dried because that is what I had. I used white onion instead of red and I had no feta so I substituted an Italian cheese blend. I ate this for lunch today with some rye crackers-Yummy and Filling. I cannot wait to go to the store and get some sun-dried tomatoes and feta (both which I LOVE) and try this again!!! Thanks for lunch:)

Vanilla Spice Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2010
This bread is Yummy! I followed the directions exactly except for using bread flour and 1/4 cup vital wheat gluten. It rose beautifully and had a great texture. Sweet, but not toooo sweet. My family ate the entire loaf in one sitting. The Steakhouse bread remains my favorite recipe so far, but this is a close second. Look forward to making this often. Thanks for the great recipe!

Steakhouse Wheat Bread for the Bread Machine

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2010
Can I say YUM!!! I was looking to make rolls so I used the dough setting of my bread machine and doubled the recipe. I left out the sugar because I did not want an overly sweet bread, added 1/4 cup of wheat flour (after reading reviews saying the dough was wet-I wanted to be able to roll it out and cut with a biscut cutter. I don't know that the extra flour was needed though.) and I added 2T vital wheat gluten. I rolled the dough out, cut with a small biscut cutter and sprinkled rolled oats on the top before covering them with oiled plastic wrap and letting rise for 1hr. I baked the rolls at 350 for 20min. They came out PERFECT! They are slightly sweet without tasting like a dessert bread and rich due to the coffee and cocoa. Good chewy texture. I'll try leaving out the extra flour next time-as I will be making these again! Thanks for a great recipe!

Cinnamon-Roasted Almonds

Reviewed: May 13, 2009
These are soooo YUMMY! I doubled the recipe and used almonds and pecans. I did use vanilla instead of water in my egg whites and added brown sugar (not much because I was almost out). I also added some cinn/maple sprinkle that I had on hand. They turned out crunchy and delicious...

Tuna Pasta Salad with Dill

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2009
I loved this salad and will be making it again soon. I followed the recipe except I used scallions instead of onions and added diced celery and cucumber. It was perfect and all of the green vegetables looked good with the dilly dressing. YUMMO! I can't wait to try it with canned salmon as well! Thanks for the great recipe!

Salmon Patties II

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2008
After bing snowed in for a week, I was raiding the cupboards in search of food and found a can of salmon. I looked for a recipe that didn't call for bread crumbs or saltines, cornflakes...because I didn't have them on hand. This recipe was perfect! I did add some onion, dill, garlic salt, and pepper. I also dredged them in flour before frying and they turned out crispy on the outside-moist inside-& very flavorful! YUMMO!

Maple Pumpkin Cheesecake

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2008
I made this cheesecake for Thanksgiving this year. I did add a few extra spices as many reviews suggested and I think if I were to make it again I would follow the recipe exactly. The extra spices made it too much like pumpkin pie in my opinion. The glaze was to die for. I thought it was good (considering I HATE ppumpkin pie and don't like cheesecake), but I did not recieve the compliments that I thought I would. It was very rich and everyone seemed to think it was "good". I may try a plain cheesecake and use this glaze (I could eat it out of a bowl on it's own;).

Butterscotch Oatmeal

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2008
WONDERFUL! I followed the recipe, but used slightly less milk (maybe 1 1/2 cup) because I like my oatmeal a bit thick. It was very creamy and just as sweet as I like! I never thought of adding the sugar while cooking and it was just the ticket-adding it after my oatmeal is done always thins it out (and as I said, I like it thick). I have made this over and over since finding this recipe-THANK YOU!

Mom's Baked Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2008
I loved how easy this recipe was and that there was no cream sauce to make-you didn't have to dirty 10 pots just to get some mac-n-cheese. I did add sour cream as many reviews suggested-but otherwise I followed the recipe. It turned out nice and creamy. My only reason for 4 stars is that I thought it was a bit bland. Maybe some cracked pepper, seasoned salt, garlic...I don't know, but it is a great base to build on.

Slow Cooker Stuffing

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2008
I made this stuffing for a playgroup Thanksgiving party and it turned out WONDERFUL! I was looking for something easy to make that would work well in a pot-luck situation and this was just the thing. I followed the recipe exactly, except I was out of sage so I added a little extra poultry seasoning. I also finely chopped the mushrooms and onions(in hopes of hiding them from picky kids-as this was made for a PLAYGROUP). I used the dried breadcubes for stuffing that are usually on the shelf by the Stovetop;) and it took the full ammount of chicken broth suggested-about 4cups. Yummy-easy-will deff. use this recipe again! THANX!
