About this Cook
I've been cooking for as long as I can remember. It's one of the great pleasures of life. Since 2008, most of the meals that I eat are vegetarian, and I occasionally eat seafood. That makes me a pescetarian. Sometimes I just say "vegetarian" because it's easier; most people don't know about pescetarianism. When I told a friend once that I'd gone pescetarian, he thought I'd changed religions! Someday I may go vegetarian.
My favorite things to cook
Pasta, potatoes, eggs, breakfast foods, Italian, Mexican, vegetarian. Baking and decorating cookies and cakes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I was raised in an Italian-American family. My grandmother was born in Italy, and so those cooking traditions were passed down to me. I especially enjoy making homemade pasta, pasta sauce, and pizzelle.
My cooking triumphs
Each time that I make pizzelle, it's a triumph. I make them just like my grandmother and great-grandmother did. Making pizzelle brings back memories... and honors their memories.
My cooking tragedies
One time I accidentally started a stovetop fire (pan boiled over) and had to put it out with a fire extinguisher. There was quite a mess to clean up but at least there was no damage. Thank you, Dad and Mom, for buying me a fire extinguisher when I got my own apartment!

Brown Sugar Cookies
Delicious cookies! As someone else said, they do taste like blondies. Such a nice texture and so easy to make.

Marinated Mushrooms II
We made these for a New Year's Eve party and brought them in a mini crock pot to stay warm. They were a hit! At the grocery store we didn't see the "small" size fresh mushrooms called for in the recipe, and bought regular-sized mushrooms. The vinegar and oil, when put into a saucepan, didn't seem like enough to cover the mushrooms, so we doubled the marinade. This recipe is delicious! We will make this again... today in fact, for a New Year's Day luncheon.

Egg Salad Sandwiches
Delicious, with a comfort food quality that we love. The dill and dried mustard are wonderful additions. We use 1/4 cup finely diced onions instead of the dried onion flakes.
