Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2014
We tried this recipe going off how good the first photo looked. Didn't look at the rest or we would have seen how puffy and cake-like they looked -- not what we wanted at all! Ours were totally bland and flavorless and rose up like little puffy cakes. The only redeeming feature was the chocolate chips, which is all we could taste. Oh, plus the entertainment value we gained through the whole family reading the reviews.. we could not believe the wide spectrum of results (from flat and greasy and all stuck together to puffy to hard as a rock... funny!). How can one simple recipe yield such drastically different results? Anyway, for us they are absolutely NOT what we enjoy in a cookie, were hoping for what the picture showed, chewy, gooey, dark and crispy on the edges. These were NOTHING like that (and of course, followed the recipe exactly as stated....).

Chewy Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2012
These needed 15+ minutes to bake, at 350 degrees. The first batch was raw still at 12 minutes at 325. Other than that, these were OK.

Brigid's Blackberry Pie

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2011
I made this pie for a potluck (I am an experienced pie maker and they always turn out beautifully) and it was a total embarrassment. I was shocked and confused to come back and read all the positive reviews. First off, when making it, I was anxious about the amount of sugar in the filling. I've never seen that much before. So when I tossed the filling ingredients together in the bowl, the sugar was so heavy that the berries just sat on top of it no matter how much I tossed. The they wouldn't blend together. But I pressed on and made it the way your recipe stated. I dumped the ingredients into my pie crust as they were, topped it and baked it. When I cut the pie open for the crowd, all of the sugar was in one big white "hill" in the center of the pie! While baking, it hardened there and everyone had huge chunks of pure, hard, white sugar in their piece of pie. It seems to me that there was no liquid for the sugar to melt down and dissolve with! I have never seen that happen before! Now, my only guess is that it's because I used frozen berries instead of "fresh" because that's the ONLY thing I changed in your recipe. But every time I've done that with any other recipe has always worked out just fine (blueberries, strawberries, peaches, etc...). So I don't know what went wrong but my crowd was very gracious and the pie disappeared quickly anyway. But wow, was I ever disappointed and embarrassed. I would not make this recipe again.

Awesome Carrot Muffins

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2009
Really nice. Not sweet, but really satisfies that muffin/sweet craving anyway. A little honey on top doesn't hurt :) I like the low sugar/high carrot nutrition ratio. Hard to find out there in a sea of too many sugary baked goods. Thanks a lot!

Zucchini Brownies

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2008
Really nice brownie. I would strongly suggest decreasing salt to half a teaspoon because a teaspoon made it overly salty especially with the high amount of baking soda which is already very salty tasting. Also, mix the sugar and oil VERY well before adding dry ingredients or you will get a very gritty brownie. I enjoyed these a lot and the icing was delicious with them, I added a little more cocoa to it because I like a deep chocolate flavor, not just sugary tasting. Overall, I will be making these many more times I think!
