I want to thank all the people who tried the Prime Rib Roast recipe I submitted some time back. I am humbled by your kind words. So please forgive me for being remiss for taking so long in getting acknowledging you.Leeflea. MORE

Does anyone know of a simple (if that's possible) puff pastry recipe? Last and only one I made was about 25 yrs. ago, and I was ready to pull out my hair, get drunk, cry and throw it out. I like puff pastry but the recipe I had was tedious and it took a long time. Am I asking too… MORE

Yes, to me orchids are beautiful and contrary to the beliefs of many, they are much easier to tend than some other 'ordinary' houseplants I have. I, too, like watching the wildlife in this area. Just this morning I saw a fox traipsing through the woods. I' a little frightened by the occasional… MORE

I'm a 53 y/o man who cooks and does so with a passion. Experimenting with recipes is nice and challenging. Along with cooking another passion of mine is growing orchids. I have about 2 dozen and have been growing them for about 10 yrs.  One in particular which is now in flower is a… MORE

About Me
I've been cooking since I was 8 y/o. Now, I'm 53. The first thing I remember making was a chocolate pound cake at age 8 and instead of putting in a half teaspoon salt, I put in a table spoon. It turned out beautifully but tasted awful. My cooking waxes and wains. It seems the older I get, the less creative I become. But what excites me is a new recipe.
My favorite things to cook
Meats, pies and sometime cakes. I like the good old Southern food on which I was reared: Collards, cornbread, mustard greens, sweet potatoes, butter beans... Too, I like a good casserole as long as it doesn't contain dairy as I'm lactose intolerant. It seems so hard to find a good one.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Christmas and Easter.
My cooking triumphs
I don't really have any but if I could make bisquits like my grandmother made then that would be a triumph.
My cooking tragedies
puff pastry...Never again will I make one lest I not have a single hair in my head. LOL.
