I've been cooking since I was 8 y/o. Now, I'm 53. The first thing I remember making was a chocolate pound cake at age 8 and instead of putting in a half teaspoon salt, I put in a table spoon. It turned out beautifully but tasted awful.
My cooking waxes and wains. It seems the older I get, the less creative I become. But what excites me is a new recipe.
My favorite things to cook
Meats, pies and sometime cakes.
I like the good old Southern food on which I was reared: Collards, cornbread, mustard greens, sweet potatoes, butter beans... Too, I like a good casserole as long as it doesn't contain dairy as I'm lactose intolerant. It seems so hard to find a good one.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Christmas and Easter.
My cooking triumphs
I don't really have any but if I could make bisquits like my grandmother made then that would be a triumph.
My cooking tragedies
puff pastry...Never again will I make one lest I not have a single hair in my head. LOL.
