Amish Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2011
Turned out awesome! I was looking for an alternative recipe for the oat bread I usually make and this turned out great! I brushed the top with egg white and sprinkled it with sunflower and poppy seeds and a mixture of grains.

Banana Sour Cream Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2011
This banana bread was really good! I substiuted Greek yogurt for the sour cream as I was out of sour cream. I also cut out 1/2 cup of the sugar might try a full cup next time as I am feeding this to my kids and do not like them to have tons of sugar. Turned out really moist and yummy it was gone very quick.

These were great! I added old cheddar since I did not have any parmesan. I also added garlic. They turned out super yummy! They were so filling too! Next time I would make them by themselves no need to serve anything else with them!

Whole Wheat and Honey Pizza Dough

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2010
Awesome recipe. I have been looking for a healthier pizza dough recipe. I like that this one used no white flour at all. I did not have any honey so I used 1Tbs of brown sugar. It worked well I mixed it in with the warm water before I added the yeast. I will make sure I have honey for the next time I make this as I would like to try it how it was written.

Very good! Next time I think I will try it as muffins. I think it will look a little prettier this way. I will also try adding a little more spices maybe a little ginger or something like that.

Blueberry Cream Muffins

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2009
Awesome recipe. I always love muffins or cakes made with sour cream as they are always so moist. This one was no let down. I did 1 cup blueberries and 1 cup strawberries as I had a little of both to use up. I also added 1 teaspoon of almond extract. (I have been on a big almond kick lately) They were delicious. I will be making these again.

Great recipe. I made it when we had family over and was little nervous as I had never made potato salad before. Everyone loved it. Next time I will make it the day before though as it better the day after.

Strawberry Muffins

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2009
These were really quick and easy. My 3 year old loved them. I did modify them a little just to make them a little healthier. I used 3/4 cup whole wheat flour 1/2 cup white flour and 1/2 cup rolled oats. I also added 1tsp each vanilla and almond extract. Just before baking I also sprinkled a little sugar over top. Even my husband who rarely eats muffins said they were really good. Next time I may try adding nuts or even ruhbarb.

Oatmeal and Applesauce Pancakes

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2009
I have never had a problem with any recipe rated this high on this website. This one I just could not get to work. No matter what I did they would not cook all the way through. I tried lower heat for a longer time and thining it out. Nothing worked. I would not do this recipe again.

German Chocolate Chip Pound Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2009
I really liked this cake. I was looking for something to make to use up the buttermilk I had and tried this. I made it for supper when my extended family was comming over. I did not find it dry at all as other reviewers had stated. I even made it the night before. I kept it in my cake caddy and it was still nice and moist when I was ready to serve it. I heated it up and served it with vanilla ice cream. It was really yummy. My sister asked for the recipe because her boyfriend liked it so much. I think that next time I make it I may try pouring a chocolate glaze of some kind over it or making cupcakes with it. I will be making this again really soon.

Easy Curry Couscous

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2009
This was really good. I made it ahead of time and served it cold with supper. It is more spicy when you serve it hot. I was a little worried about that when I tasted it right after cooking it, but after it sat for a while it seemed less spicy. It worked out perfect because I have 2 small children and a father who are not to keen on even mildly spicy things. I also added cumin chopped apple and red pepper. I may try adding a little garlic next time as well. I would cut back on the salt next time or else use low or sodium free broth. I will definately be cooking this again as even my one year old ate this. Thanks for the great recipe.

Butter Frosting

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2008
Good Icing. I added double the butter because it was still really thick and tasted really sugary and less buttery. I aslo had to add a little more milk, but only like a teaspoon to get it to a spreadable consistancy.

Lemon Fluff Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2008
Very yummy! I used the fresh lemon juice and lemon rind like other people had suggested. I also added poppyseeds because I had some and figured I should start using them up. They added a nice crunch to the cake. I cooked it in a bundt pan because I was running short on time and figured it would look nicer in it than in a plain pan. After it cooled I just drizzled a glaze over it. (1 cup icing sugar, and the juice and rind from half a lemon and a little water to make it a little more porable) It turned out really well with a nice tart lemon flavor. This recipe is a keeper for sure.
