About this Cook
I am retired. I do a lot of volunteer work. I love creating knitted items. I have a cat. I am an Air Force Brat so I have lived in many places and enjoy learning about others cultures.
My favorite things to cook
I have no favotites as every new thing I cook becomes my favorite. I do like fancy but easy desserts. In the summer I do a lot of fresh vegetable dishes.(1000 ways to prepare zucchini and like it)
My favorite family cooking traditions
The only recipe I have from my grandmother is a chocolate cake with no eggs. Its very moist and I love it.
My cooking triumphs
My newest one is a fresh fruit tart. Since blueberries are a fruit grown here in Maine, it had those and also raspberries and black berries. My biggest problem with this one was finding creme fraiche.( not in local stores)
My cooking tragedies
I don't really remember any.

Too Much Chocolate Cake
This cake is so moist and I like the texture. I followed it as written but next time I may mix instant coffee in the warm water. Another time maybe a little cinnamon.

Three Bean Salad With Celery
I love this is the summer or for a pot luck. I do vary it a bit. I add yellow wax beans and use a red onion and green pepper.

Polenta Fries
I found this recipe yesterday and had a roll of polenta in the pantry and tried this for supper. I was very disappointed. They never did crisp up and were very bland. I really wanted to like this.
