About this Cook
I am a mother of two super smart and beautiful daughters. I just became a empty nest mom too, my youngest just started college for and I am a maw maw to a 3 year old cute as a button baby girl. Been with my better half for over 10 years. And I also run a website named Smart Moms Saving Money http://smartmomssavingmoney.blogspot.com I list deals, bargains, freebies, recipes and ways to save money daily. Please come by and visit me.
My favorite things to cook
Baked goodies and comfort food. I also love cooking for my dogs. I make them home made natural treats and healthy meals. I also LOVE, LOVE cooking with my 2 year old grand-daughter. Baking cookies, making pizza and just having fun.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Baking all the goodies at Christmas. I took over where my grandma left off.
My cooking triumphs
My oatmeal cookies they are to die for. :) And my daughter says it's my fudge.
My cooking tragedies
Who me? Why I never.. ;) I'll have to get back to you on that one.

Roasted Vegetables
Came out very good I used what I had on hand. Sweet potato, 1/2 red pepper, baby carrots, 1 onion, garlic, white potato and fresh herbs. The only thing I was busy with too many things and I didn't keep turning the veggies which left them soft instead of crunchy like I think it's suppose to be. We all still liked it a lot even my dogs I made enough for them also minus the onion. Thank you!

Chicken Pot Pies with Puff Pastry
I made this last night,we loved it except it was salty. I seen where a couple reviews said it needed salt, not mine. I used 1/2 the butter called for, 3 cups of broth, 1/4 cup of flour, a tablespoon of chopped onion browned and 1 teaspoon of garlic browned. 4 skinless chicken thighs, 2 real potatoes, 1/2 cup carrots, 1/2 cup peas and 2 tablespoons corn. I added 1/2 teaspoon celery salt. It smelled just like pot pie when I was making the sauce, so I knew it would be good. {Don't add the celery salt!} The pie came out great, except it was salty. I cooked the potatoes in the microwave so I guess potatoes don't suck up salt if they are cooked before putting them together. "I didn't know that." It did take me a lot longer then 20 Minutes to prep. I will be making this recipe again minus the celery salt I had added. Thank you for sharing!

Lazy Baked Macaroni and Cheese
I made this recipe last night and we all loved it, even my dogs loved it! lol The only thing I did was change the cheese to Cheddar, we don't really like American cheese so I used what me had in our house. I LOVED that I could put the pasta in without cooking it first, what a time and mess saver. I'll be making this recipe again and again for sure, not to mention I'll be sharing it with my readers on my blog and my daughters too! Thank you so much for sharing! Laura
