About this Cook
I am a mother of a one-year old with another on the way. My husband and I are adventurous with food, and enjoy trying new things all the time. I grew up with my dad and brother so I learned to cook at a very early age, and was always cooking meals for them. I didn't really learn to expand my cooking horizons until I got married, since my husband was so encouraging and loved to try every new thing I made (disasters and all). Becoming a great cook comes through experience, trial and error and while in my husband's eyes "I'm Amazing" I hope to become even better.
My favorite things to cook
Every day I am browsing recipes and adding them to my menu for the following week....whatever mood I am in seems to dictate the meals I tend to pick out. I love Asian, Indian, Italian and Mediterranean and those are the recipes I tend to go looking for. I also love to re-create my favorite recipes that I order in's amazing how close you can come to the real thing when you are deconstructing.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I don't really have any family cooking traditions yet, but my husband and I do get together with 2 other couples once a month and do an International Food Night. We pick a country and each cook dishes to reflect the authentic food of that country. It is one of my favorite time of the month! We have eaten some really incredible food and expanded our culinary taste buds this way....and it's funny how a country that you don't think will be that great, can really blow you away ;)

Carrot Cupcakes with White Chocolate Cream Cheese Icing
These were so moist and delicious! I made a regular cream cheese icing, and took out half the oil and put in 1/2 cup of applesauce. I think I could easily cut out 1/3 of the sugar as well to make them more healthy...they are definitely on the sweet side. But oh so good!

Sarge's EZ Pulled Pork BBQ
This recipe is great. Add a teaspoon of liquid smoke when you are adding the broth and coffee. It gives it a great depth of flavor. Very delicious with a side of coleslaw.

Double Tomato Bruschetta
I did not add the full amount of olive oil...only about 2 tablespoons. I added extra salt and some dried oregano. Yummy.
