I am married and have one daughter. I love the Lord, my family, my church
family and cooking. We live on one acre and my kitchen window looks out to our back yard and the field behind us. I enjoy watching the squirrels, birds and deer while I am cooking or washing dishes.
My favorite things to cook
My favorite things to cook are breads, and any type of sweets. Pies, cakes,
cookies, candy, whatever!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom makes yeast doughnuts for our family hayride every fall. She is
almost 84 and still loves to cook for the family especially the grandkids.
For my family we make Christmas cookies and candy together, and always
make a birthday cake for Jesus.
My cooking triumphs
This may sound silly but my latest cooking triumph was making bake beans from scratch for 40 people for a special church supper. The beans could not have any pork in them so canned beans could not be used. I was a little concerned if people would like them because most people are use to canned beans in baked beans. Everyone thought they were great. A lady that said she didn't like baked beans tried them, then asked if she could take some home if there were any left.
My cooking tragedies
My mother in law always made my husband a chocolate chip chiffon cake for
his birthday. After we were married, since we didn't live close to his
mother I thought I would try one. The first one I made stuck to the pan and I had to dig it out. I waited a few years and tried again. This time while it was cooling upside down it fell out of the pan in chunks. After that I left that cake to my mother in law. :-) I still don't know what
the problem was, I make great angel food cakes?
