About this Cook
I have three young children, aged 5, 3 and 2. I enjoy cooking, reading, writing and games.
My favorite things to cook
Desserts and pastas. I really love baking, too.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family on both sides is huge into cooking, a lot of rich and stick-to-your-ribs meals. We're also really good at making things up as we go along.
My cooking triumphs
Finding the perfect home-made buttercream icing recipe.
My cooking tragedies
Making lousy cupcakes to go with the awesome icing.
Recipe Reviews 5 reviews
These are phenomenal. I had to do a few minor tweaks, like the 2 tablespoons of butter instead of just one. I cut it in, mixed every so lightly with the milk and then dropped them in. The first batch I accidentally went to 20 minutes and they mushed up but the kids didn't mind. I ended up making 3 batches so far (pork, sauerkraut and dumplings) and I think I may need another one. If your family is big (and in it for the dumplings) just one batch isn't enough! These are downright delicious. Tried with parsley one batch and pepper with another. You really can't seem to go wrong if you follow the recipe and keep to 15 minutes with a lid on simmer!

Flourless Peanut Butter Cookies
I started making these prior to reading all the reviews...I must say, a lot of people managed to mangle them. These were actually pretty impressive, though I strayed and split the sugar between white and brown. They weren't gritty, they didn't burn on the bottom and they weren't excessively oily like I was afraid they'd be.(I even greased my first sheet!) But I wouldn't recommend them if you aren't a huge fan of peanut butter. ^_^

Mom's Best Peanut Brittle
This turned out really good!(despite my lack of thermometer.) I highly recommend it, even for the not so experienced candy makers. (Warming the tray in the oven prior to dumping the mix on it helps to spread it around before it hardens)
