About this Cook
i'm only a teenager, but i love to cook more than anything! i have a huge family, twelve kids, but only five live in the same house as me right now. i started cooking when one night a babysitter was making dinner, she watched us constantly(nearly every night,) and i couldn't help but noticing that the only thing she would ever make was spaghetti with ragu. i quickly got sick of this and got permission to use the stove. ever since, i've been searching for recipes for hours on end! if you have a recipe that you would like to share with me(i LOVE healthy recipes, actually, i won't make a recipe over 400 calories with more than 4 grams of fat) please do!
My favorite things to cook
i originally started out baking, but now i enjoy cooking as well! anything with sugar is appealing to me, i especially enjoy trying to find healthy twists to not so healthy dessert items! i love italian food, so i've been trying to find healthy options to traditional dishes!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family is Norwegian, and my grandma can make mean norwegian meatballs and mashed potatoes, i would love to learn how to make those! i would also like to learn how to make lefse and my other grandmother's baked beans!
My cooking triumphs
right now, i just love to cook, and i love that my siblings always get excited when they hear that i'll be the one making dinner that night, it really makes me feel good!

Chinese Steamed Buns with Barbecued Pork Filling
i made these yesterday, and i cut the recipe in half. they were really good, the filling wasn't what i had had expected, probably because we used regular pork in place of "Asia barbecued pork". We found that their wasn't enough filling, but otherwise the buns were tasty. Also, my dough never rose as much as the recipe said, whether it was a problem with the yeast or it just isn't supposed to, i'm not sure.

Frost Me Nots
This recipe is awesome! I just pulled a batch out of the oven and they came out perfectly! My younger brother was begging to eat them(unfortunately he couldn't, we're making them for a birthday) and i caught him several times sneaking licks of the batter! However, this recipe only got 4 stars because I'm a bit of a health freak, and when i took a peek at the nutrition facts, I was blown away! Also, these do need a pinch or two of baking powder to help them rise. Other than that, a fabulous recipe!

Angel Food Cake III
the cake tasted great! this was the first time that i had ever made a cake other than cake mix from a box! i think for a first try, it turned out fabulous! i wasn't completely sure about how much to whip the eggs, so i don't think i whipped them enough. the cake ended up only being about 2 inches tall, so it was very dense. in a way, i liked the density because it made it more filling, unlike traditional angel food cake! my sister had 4 slices in the span of 2 hours! good recipe!
