Gravy Baked Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2013
Meh. I followed the recipe, but also added a bit of seasoning and a splash of worcestershire sauce after reading other reviews. The pork chops were not tender at all, and the sauce was thin- not very 'gravy' like.

One-Dish Chicken, Vegetable and Rice Bake

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2012
Just made this tonight for the first time. It actually took an hour and a half, and the wild rice wasn't cooked enough, which is the main reason for the mediocre rating... Because it cooked a bit long, the veggies were a bit mushy. The flavor was good, and I can see it being easy to substitute different options. We liked it enough to try again- I will use fresh carrots/broccoli and pre-cook the wild rice a bit.

Garlic Roasted Chicken and Potatoes

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2011
This was very good. I only had chicken legs, so that's what we used, as well as red potatoes for the same reason. I cut the garlic way down (I like it, but my husband doesn't as much) and also added some granulated onion and rosemary. I thought it was a little too 'buttery' so next time I will cut that in half as I think the chicken 'broth' would still be plenty for basting. Oh, I also omitted the maple syrup- didn't miss it:) Next time I will also add carrots too as that sounds good from what others say...

Janet's Rich Banana Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2011
Very good! I didn't have sour cream so I used vanilla/banana yogurt instead, turned out awesome. I will say that I mashed the bananas more than just sliced them, and that helped the appearance. I will be making this often.

Asian Beef with Snow Peas

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2011
This was so good! I subbed cooking sherry for rice wine and the sauce flavor was still great. I had read the other reviews, so I doubled the sauce ingredients, which was perfect since I served this over rice. I added red peppers and it was all delicious. I do recommend using a big pan/skillet as my average size skillet barely fit it all. I may need to buy a wok now:)

Quick and Easy Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2011
This was so good and easy! I am so bored of chicken breasts, so I had to try something new, and it worked out great. It was too spicy (peppery) for my toddler, but the rest of us loved it. Thanks.

Jill's Hash Brown Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2010
Very good base recipe! I subbed cream of chicken for cream of mushroom as I do not like the flavor of cheese and cream of mushroom soup... I also only used about 1/4 of an onion since one would be overwhelming to my family. I didn't have cornflakes so I used bread crumbs-still great:)

Russian Tea Cakes I

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2010
Excellent recipe. They are so easy and delicious. I was concerned about the dough being crumbly, but like others said- as soon you start rolling it, it's fine. I did use walnuts, but I like almonds better so I will try those next time. Thanks!

The Best Banana Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2010
This was a good basic recipe, but did need some changes. I followed some previous advice and used 1/2 tsp of vanilla extract and a few shakes of the ground cinnamon. I don't think the bread would have been nearly as good without it. I used everything else as listed, I think a little less flour would've been ok too.

Mrs. Sigg's Snickerdoodles

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2010
OMG- so good. My five year old and I just made a batch of these. They were very easy, fun (my son loved the rolling in the sugar/cinnamon), and most of all- DELICIOUS. Thank you, this will now be my go-to recipe for snickerdoodles.

Mexican Rice II

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2010
This rice was good and easy to make. I also sauteed the onions a bit in the oil before adding the rice, and I definitely think that helped for people who don't like biting into onions. I followed the recipe except for adding a little chili pepper to add a little more spice. It is a good basic recipe. Next time I will use a bit less oil as it seemed a little greasy and I will throw in some hot sauce to spice it up again, but this was a good base for sure.

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2010
This was excellent. We just wanted a different way to make a roast in the crock pot than our usual and this totally fit the bill. We only used on can of soup as that's all we had, and scaled down the water to one cup. We cooked on low all day and the meat was falling apart tender and the potatoes and carrots we had added were fully cooked without being mushy. We will definitely be having this often.

Pork Chops for the Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2010
This was delicious! So easy to prepare and the whole family enjoyed it- even notoriously picky kids. My husband and I are glad to have a recipe that 'flavors up' pork chops, in a healthful way.

Black Bean and Rice Enchiladas

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2010
This was great. I did a couple substitutions based on what I had on hand/preference- no pepper flakes or cilantro and I used a mexcian blend of cheese instead of the cheddar. We didn't miss the meat at all, and it was very filling, one was enough for me. I will say that it wasn't particularly young child-friendly, it was messy (obviously) and had a little too much spice for them, but I loved it and it made good left-overs as well.

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2008
Fantastic. I followed the recipe word for word, 25 mins later, I had fabulous muffins. I will probably Pam the pan though next time because even though I used liners, the tops got a little stuck upon removal-not a big issue though. I will try the vanilla and brown sugar for next time just to see, but I really can't say that this recipe needs a change at all:)
