I am a new wife and owner of the best dog in the world. When I'm not working to get animals adopted from the local animal shelter I am home cooking meals that vary in time and complexity. My name may confuse you but I like simple flavors that come together in a gourmet way.
My favorite things to cook
Anything with starch. In a world of antistarch I am the one to imbrace all forms of potato, rice, pasta, and recently quinoa. A close second would be gravies or rues. While my ability to make a rue come together is completely nonexsistent I still love them.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Jarring our homemade apple pie filling every fall. Picking the apples, cleaning, slicing, mixing with sweet ingredients, then jarring them so you could make crust and have a quick apple pie.
My cooking triumphs
Well being more of a baker, I would say any meal that is not a flop is a triumph.
My cooking tragedies
An asian crockpot dish that when we stepped in the apartment made your mouth water. So you say how is this a tragedy? Well, when you sit down and your great smelling dinner tastes like something you would expect to come out of a dog food can, that is a failure. My sweet man didn't say a word until I said "wow, do think this tastes like dog food" He said "yeah, but I don't know how you did it". THen he went back for seconds. I love him so much.
