So, I messed this up a little, but the good news is, even if you mess up, you'll still end up with something deliciously baklava-like! I thought I made it just as the recipe said (only change - baking at 325), but I ran out of nuts so I put on the top layer of phyllo (8 sheets deep). Seems I should have used the whole package up, but I had LOTS leftover. Problem - my walnut layers were too thick! I probably used more per layer than the recipe said! Next time I will know better. And there will be a next time! This is a whole lot of yum for such small effort, and there are variations I want to try that I've read in the reviews here. DON'T be scared of phyllo dough, and DON'T be scared of making baklava!
