Oven Pot Roast

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2015
Easiest, tender and tasty recipe for Pot Roast. I use the onion soup mix recipe from mamakittyto3 on this site. My husband has celiac disease so I use gluten free all purpose flour, gluten free cream of mushroom soup mix and GF beef bouillion in the onion soup mix. I sub either chardonnay or dry sherry for the vermouth and as others have noted, I usually throw in an extra 1/2 cup along with another tsp. of beef bouillion or an extra 1/2 cup of beef stock if I have it on hand. I also add celery, carrots, onion and potatoes immediately and have had no consistency problem. I've done it a 325 for 3 hours or 275 for 5 hours and don't notice a difference. A nice gravy results and it's always been a big hit at our house.

Easy to make gluten free version and mamakitty is right - much cheaper and more convenient. A+

Aw-some Coleslaw

Reviewed: May 12, 2013
As another reviewer mentioned, I cut the sugar back to 1/4 cup. I also subbed soy milk for the milk. I only had time to let it sit for about an hour and a half but no matter. Everyone loved it - no leftovers! Will try splenda next time.

Poulet Parisienne

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2013
This recipe is great as is. The last time I made it, I did tweak it a little. I added some paprika to the sauce, increased the sherry by half and used fresh mushrooms sauteed in white wine instead of the canned mushrooms. My husband isn't a huge mushroom fan but he loves this recipe.

Huge hit with the family - even those who weren't wild about meat loaf. It is definitely the glaze.

Corn Tortillas

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2013
Super simple and came out great! 1 cup of masa and 3/4 cup water was the right mixture for me. The tip to roll out between a plastic bag was so important for me since I don't have a press. I used my electric griddle at 400 degrees the transferred to a tortilla keeper. My husband is so impressed. I've been asked to make these on a regular basis for him. Excellent for celiac (gluten free).

Whiskey Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2013
A big hit with the whole family! I doubled the recipe for the sauce, added some ginger and Frank's Red Hot, increased the whiskey (used Canadian vs. Bourbon)by 1 TBS. I used half (or one original recipe) for a marinade and put in the fridge for 1-2 hours before dinner. As others mentioned, I did add a little corn starch at the end to thicken. Unanimous vote from the family to add this to the regular rotation.
