I was fortunate enough to be brought up in a house where you had to taste everything at least once, this help to create my love of food. I have always had an interest in cooking, which lead to me doing a advanced diploma in hospitality managment, it had cookery subjects which i really enjoyed. I love cooking for my family and seeing the joy on people faces when then eat what i have created.
My favorite things to cook
Unfortunaley i have a terrible sweet tooth, so i do love to bake desserts, sweets etc. I also love to try and recreate something great ive had when dining out and seeing how close to the real thing i can get.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mum grew up in Detroit, Michigan USA, so her cooking has definitly influenced what i like and cook at home. Sugar cookies are always been a firm favourite, and she also has a great recipes for a louisianna stew i love it so dark, sweet and sticky.
My cooking triumphs
finishing my course was great i learnt many new cooking skills and techniques. A proud moment was when i made a croquembouche cake (proffiter rolls) very popular as a wedding cake, for my year 12 final piece in food tech. it was great. having a new recipe turn out great is always a triumph or when changing an existing recipe and making it even better.
My cooking tragedies
most recent would be putting way too much baking soda in a date loaf, it tasted terrible...and had to throw it out... shame
