About this Cook
I just graduated from college in Rochester, NY, but was born and raised in southern Maine. I was brought up around food we gathered ourselves, we had a medium sized garden and most of my family hunts so I've had a lot of wild animals, mostly venison though. For the last couple years in college and now that I'm on my own, I'm working on improving my culinary skills.
My favorite things to cook
Huge fan of every kind of seafood, I could probably live off the stuff. I also love fresh vegetables, and cooking with them.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love the traditional new england cooking style my grandmother uses, and I also love the hispanic food from my mom's side of the family.

Stuffed Mexican Peppers
This was great! I made these as an easy lunch to bring to work. I added 1 cup black beans, 2 jalepenos (canned), and some black olives in there as well. I also seasoned the 2nd tomato sauce before putting on top. Everything else was as-is. Loses one star because the cheese doesn't melt very well using the technique described in this recipe. It either dripped off the side of the pepper or didn't distribute at all, leaving a large glob of cheese in the middle. I'll probably shred the cheese next time.

Butternut Squash Cajun Fries
Definitely an interesting take on butternut squash, its nice to mix it up from the butter and sugar heavy alternatives you see more frequently. I will definitely make again, though next time I think I need a better cajun spice. Tried to assemble my own from a recipe here and I think it was a little black pepper heavy.

Whole Grain Breakfast Cookies
OMG these are the best cookies I've ever eaten. And they stay moist and chewy for days, though though they've only made it to day 3 around me, haha. I have lots of 'homemade' honey around so I used that instead. (not sure what you would call honey you harvest yourself, I'll call it homemade for now) I don't have a food processor so I just ground up the walnuts as finely as I could. So good!
