About this Cook
I'm mother of 2 boys(13 & 9). I cook inside, hubby cooks outside. My family (excluding boys) tells me I am a great cook. Averaging out my own ratings of my own recipes, I am just mediocre. Rather than make tried-and-true recipes for company, I usually use guests as an opportunity to try something new.
My favorite things to cook
Anything I haven't tried before
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother's dressing w/ oysters, celery, bourbon, and many other things. She refuses to share recipe w/ anyone. It looks frightening and my husband won't touch it w/ a barge pole.
My cooking triumphs
I'm still waiting for this.
My cooking tragedies
Tomato curry with walnuts. I was 18 years old, living with my parents, and wanted to impress my sweetie. I ended up shoving him away from the stove so that he couldn't taste how revolting it was. He never did get to try it.

Bacon Wrapped Pesto Chicken
There is nothing in the world wrong with this recipe. It will make you look brilliant. I subbed thighs for breasts, but other than that, followed to a T. My son even asked for the recipe.

Tuna Ball
I love simple recipes that are totally wonderful - and this is one of those. A joy to make and even better to eat. 5 stars as is. I actually made it as a made it as a main course with crackers and my husband loved it. Also good with green onion, onion salt, and lemon juice added. I agree with other reviewers that it works with reduced fat/neufchatel cheese, which is easier to blend. I can't wait to try this out at a party. One caveat: children don't seem to like it very much.

French Toast Casserole
We are snowed in today, so I made this for breakfast. I don't have very much that is useful to add, but I didn't change the ingredients at all (for once). My husband liked it, My 16 year old's only problem was that there wasn't more of it, and my 11 year old kept carrying on about how he felt like he should be in a restaurant but it was too good. I got to hear what a good cook I am, which is always nice, and it was easy and fun to make. Under what to drink - I would have to say OJ goes just right, too. Thanks Starflower!
