About this Cook
I'm a radiographer and have a 4 year old son, 1 year old daughter, and wonderful husband. I don't cook as much now as I used to, I guess I just have more demands on my time, but I still really enjoy it.
My favorite things to cook
I like to try to cook new ethnic foods.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Umm, family tradition is probably more eating, than cooking.
My cooking triumphs
I once made an entirely Polish Thanksgiving from recipes I found in a cookbook put together by Polish immigrants in the 40's. It was delicious.
My cooking tragedies
Numerous, probably my jack o lantern cake was the saddest, pecan pie-should have known a northern girl coudn't make pecan pie, it wouldn't set.

Bobbie's Oatmeal Cookies
These might be the best cookies I have ever made. They didn't go all flat on me, they have a crispy edge but soft inside. Delicious. Thank you!

Brown Bread
I finally figured out how I could make this without the cans. I used a large round Pyrex bowl. I wasn't sure it was done because the middle looked wet and shiny but it wasn't sticky so I removed it from the steamer. This is rich, moist, dense and sweet. The corn meal gives a nice texture. I did not think it would come out of my bowl even though I greased it, but I tried turning over on a tray and it came out nicely. This is a little sweeter than I was hoping but absolutely delish.

Amish White Bread
This recipe is exactly what I was looking for. This was easy to make, it rose as expected both in the bowl and in pans. I used all of the sugar and it was in the oven before I read all of the reviews that claimed it was too sweet. I made two loaves that rose nice and high they were slightly more dense than the squishy grocery store white bread but definitely not too dense. The flavor was that of white bread. I cooked them for exactly 30 minutes. It was not too sweet and just homemade tasting enough to make it worth it. My children love to eat white bread- plain and toasted and the store bought varieties have so many chemicals. This is awesome. Thank you.
