Angel Chicken Pasta

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2004
This is probably my favorite chicken & pasta recipe. It's very easy, but so impressive. The only ingredients exchange I make--when I can't find exact ingredients--is cream of mushroom for golden mushroom soup and plain cream cheese plus a sprinkling of chives for cream cheese with chives. I also use sauted boneless chicken strips when I don't have as much time; combine with the sauce and you're done.

Shrimp Jambalaya

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2006
For a jamabalaya made in a crock pot instead of from scratch with the traditional roux, it's not bad. However, since I'm accustomed to the traditional ways of making Cajun and Creole dishes, I'm probably not going to use this recipe all that often. There just seemed to be something lacking about the flavor. Maybe next time I'll up the amount of Cajun seasoning I used in place of the Italian.

Italian-Style Spaghetti Squash

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2006
This was very good. Only problem was that it was a little to sweet for our tastes, due to the natural sweetness of the squash; Davin typically doesn't use salt, but said I should add more next time. I did add some dried garlic flakes and some oregano to the sauteed veggies. I'll definately be using the veggie saute again (on regular pasta, as a side dish, etc.).

French Leek Pie

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2006
This was very good. (My first time making anything with leeks, so I think I didn't chop them up into small enough pieces.) Davin loves leeks so I'll definately be making this again.

Easy Olive Oil, Tomato, and Basil Pasta

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2007
It's always nice to be reminded that sometimes the best recipes are the simple ones. Such a great stand by, and so easy to adapt (add cheese, different style pasta, etc.).

Southern Living Magazine's King Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2007
The first year my restaurant location was open during Mardi Gras, I brought in king cake for everyone (2/3 of the recipe). The next day, there was none left over. This year, I carried on the tradition. Although I wasn't scheduled to work until the evening, I brought it in before lunch so my day shift could enjoy it as well. They were given explicit instructions to make sure there was enough left over for the evening crew. When I arrived at 4pm, they were most unapologetic for leaving just 3 pieces for 8 employees. Definately a winning recipe! (And next year, I'm giving one to day shift and one to evening shift, and making an extra recipe for myself!)

Cinnamon Toast

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2007
The perfect ratio of cinnamon to sugar! Like so many other reviewers I've grown up with a variation of this recipe. My mom typically used brown sugar, and mixed everything with the butter before spreading it on bread and toasting it in the oven.

Easy Lasagna III

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2007
I was looking for a recipe close to Mom's, and so far this is the closest, although we prefer ricotta to cottage cheese. (I made the substitution when I tried this recipe, along with Barilla's no-boil lasanga noodles.) I've also used this as a base for veggie lasagna.
