Quick Hoppin' John Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2014
This is the best Hoppin' John that I have ever had. We liked it well enough to incorporate it into our rotation of winter menus. It is easy to prepare, and we really enjoyed it.

Pesto Chicken Florentine

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2012
This has quickly become a family favorite. We like to add sun-dried tomato at the beginning, and sliced mushrooms toward the end. Great recipe!

Progresso® Creamy Chicken Piccata

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2012
This was okay for a week-night meal, but I don't know if I would serve it to guests. It did come together fast, and my picky daughter liked it. If I make it again, I will add mushrooms, and serve it with asparagus on the side.

Chicken and Gnocchi Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2011
I am giving this 5 stars because it was delicious, easy to make, and it compared favorably with a similar version at a popular Italian chain restaurant. I did not have to change anything. My husband and I both loved it!

INCREDIBLE Raspberry Cheesecake Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2011
Sweet and tangy in a good way! More sophicated than your standard cookie. Made according to the recipe, it was excellent. The size and shape of the raspberry chips that I ordered online from the Prepared Pantry reminded me of mini-chocolate chips so I added them the second time that I made the recipe. I would definitely recommend that variation for chocolate lovers. This is an easy and delicious cookie either way.

Asian Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2011
This recipe is so good! We marinaded our pork for about 12 hours. The only recommendation that I would make is to make extra sauce because it is so tasty.

Buttercream Icing

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2011
Excellent icing. Easy to spread. Stiff enough to use for decorating. Doesn't have to be refrigerated. This is similar to a recipe that I received in a cake decorating class. The main difference was the one from the class used less vanilla extract and added other flavorings. It called for 1/2 tsp vanilla extract, 1 tsp almond extract, and 1/2 tsp lemon extract for this amount of frosting.

Cindy's Awesome Clam Chowder

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2010
My family loved this chowder! I served it in bread bowls made from the San Francisco Sourdough Bread recipe on this site. The soup was easy to put together, and oh-so-good! I will definitely make this one again. Thanks, Cindy! It was awesome!

Baked Potato Skins

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2010
I made this recipe for the Superbowl and they were great! It was the perfect game day nosh. Everyone in the family loved these. I will definitely make these again. I accidentally substituted cayenne for the paprika. Since the amount was small, it just added a subtle burn, just enough to be pleasant. Next time, I may add both the paprika and cayenne.

Sweet As Kisses Pie

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2009
Easy and delicious, cool and refreshing! It took longer to unwrap the ingredients than it did to make the pie. I will definitely make this again. Cut the pie while still frozen, and put onto plates, but let it stand for 30 minutes before serving for the best flavor.

Iced Coffee Syrup

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2009
This is the most refreshing drink ever! For coffee-lovers, it is a terrific summer cooler. I made a batch for my teenaged daughter and her friends and it was gone in a single sitting. Try it with a rich chocolate milk for a wonderful mocha flavor.

Surprise Apple Salad

Reviewed: May 26, 2009
So easy and so good! I have made it a few times now. Some optional ingredients that I have tried: Oreo pie crust, toasted coconut, chopped pecans, caramel topping, marachino cherries. It is good on its own, or with its many tasty variations. This recipe is a keeper!

This appetizer is a big hit with my family, and I get requests to make it often. If you have mushroom lovers in your family, you may want to make multiple of this recipe, because it gets devoured quickly! Thanks for the great recipe, ambibambi!

Exchange Gang Pasta with Shrimp

Reviewed: May 23, 2009
This recipe rocks! We will definitely make it again for guests. My entire family was on board to help out with the prep. We decided splitting up the prep is definitely the way to go. It comes together pretty quickly after the prep is done. This Gang recipe was made by my whole gang. The results were unanimous, it is delicious! We did not change a thing. It was terrific just as written. Thank you, Recipe Exchange members! This recipe is a keeper!

Real Welsh Rarebit

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2009
Real Welsh Rarebit is pure comfort food. This would be good dish for lunch with the family on a rainy day. Since this recipe comes together so quickly, and my entire family enjoys it, it may become part of our regular roster. Please note that after it begins to set up, it must be served immediately. My daughter ate it as written. My husband and I like it a little spicier, so we sprinkled red pepper on our individual portions. We served it over toasted French bread. As soon as we tasted it, my husband got out the tortilla chips to try with it. It reminded me of cheese fondue, so I tried it over an apple slice. We both thoroughly recommend it served those ways as well. Good job, Momfish! Thanks for the great recipe!

Apple, Brie, and Walnut Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2009
This simple salad compares favorably with a similar one I had at an upscale steakhouse. The ingredients are well-balanced, and each of them brings something unique to the party. I splurged and used some cherry balsamic vinegarette that I had been saving. It was well worth it! I would definitely serve this salad to guests.

Maple-Bacon Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2009
These are good as a novelty cookie. The maple extract added a very nice aroma. Although I followed the recipe to the letter, the cookies spread more than my normal recipe for chocolate chip cookies, so I made the rest of the cookies smaller after the first batch was done. I chopped the bacon into bacon bit size. You really could not taste the bacon in the final product.

Country Breakfast Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2009
This is now our go-to breakfast casserole. It is tasty and fairly simple to make. It can easily be put together the night before, and popped into the oven in the morning. We like to use sage sausage. We made it as listed except, at other reviewer's suggestions, we added a layer of seasoned cooked hash browns before adding the eggs, and doubled the recommended amount of cheese. I put the water, milk, and gravy mix in a jar, and shake it together before adding it to the eggs, to prevent the lumps that we got the first time that we made it. For variety, I also like to add mushrooms and green pepper. It may sound like we tweaked it a lot, but we have made it several different times, and it is always really good! Thank you for the great recipe, Kristin!
