I'm 62 retired. I live in a Del Webb over 55 community and love it. I started a monthly lunch group called "The Elite Five" and the only rule is that we bring a dish from a recipe that we've never tried before. We love it@!
My favorite things to cook
Its easier to say what I don't cook: liver; biscuits and gravy; chicken fried steak. Most anything else goes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving. Turkey, giblet gravy, sweet potatoes with mini marshmellows, fresh cranberry salad, pecan pie, and my special dark fruitcake.
My cooking triumphs
I have really gotten good at pie crust. I love making crepes. When I entertain its usually brunch. My lasagne is famous at potlucks.
My cooking tragedies
I was making pork chops in cranberry sauce in the crock pot and I thought I had turned it to "off" and I turned it to "high." It took two days of cooking water on "high" to get the carmelized cranberries off the sides.
