Easy Homemade Pie Crust

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2014
I love this recipe. In the summer, I load it up with fresh chopped herbs for a chicken pot pie. It is beautiful. I am generally a pie crust purist, cutting in the shortening with two knives; but this recipe is great for savory fillings.

Candy Coated Pecans

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2013
Love this recipe. I started making these after visiting Cajun country and coming home to Wisconsin with a LOT of pecans. I use half cup of white and brown sugar, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, the vanilla, a good drizzle of Steen's pure cane syrup( also a gift from cajun country). After I get them all spread out on the greased parchment, I sprinkle very coarse sea salt sparingly over them all. That little salty bite is a nice addition to the sweet tasty pecans.

Sweet Coated Pecans

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2013
I love this recipe. It is my new thing to bring to parties. Instead of adding the salt to the egg mixture, I sprinkle coarse sea salt over the nuts after I place them on the baking sheet. I also use 1 teaspoon of vanilla. Good stuff!

Gourmet Mushroom Risotto

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2009
This is comfort food at it's finest.I used this recipe for my first go at making risotto.I kept the broth on the burner so it was warm for each addition. You really must get everything ready before starting as you will not be able to leave the pot once the stirring begins.I used a heavy enamel dutch oven so that helped with the sticking issue. Will make this a part of our regular menu.

St. Patrick's Day Zucchini-Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2009
This is a very good cookie. There were bits of green throughout. I took one reviewer's suggestion and added a little freshly grated nutmeg. The cookies were not so sweet and you could really appreciate the subtle spice.I doubled the batch so I got a little over 4 dozen. But I was only able to take 3 dozen to our bake sale for my husband could'nt stop"testing" them.

Italian Wedding Soup II

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2009
This a pretty good basic recipe for this type of soup. When I make this I use half very lean groung chuck & half lean ground pork. The family doesn't care for the egg mixture at the end. So I skip it (that's another kind of soup altogether. The only thing missing at the end is the addition of finely grated lemon zest . Just a little. It really gives the broth a fresh finish.

I love this recipe. It is similar to one I have been saving in an old Woman's Day mag. since 1982.It was an Ohio State Fair Blue ribbon winner.I like to crinkle cut my 3" x 1" cukes about 1/4 inch thick, and use a mixture of red ,yellow & green peppers. Very colorful.
