I am a mother of three daughters and a wife to a wonderful man. I am a daughter of a strong woman who taught me most of what I know about baking. I have a small bakery and enjoy creating new flavors. I have a passion to teach our children about baking and so I am involved in many programs through youth groups and co-ops. I am a Christian and love Jesus! I am grateful for this website as it has provided a number of wonderful ideas.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake! I am a dessert nut! Cheesecakes, cakes and pies! I love making wedding cakes! I love baking things and giving them as gifts to people. It is a way to let them know they are special and loved.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Our biggest tradition is cooking with the kids. My mother would have me in the kitchen helping make dinners for the family when I was a toddler! I loved it. We do that now. I love to hear our 2 year old say "Mommy, Emma help you!" It is a lesson in patience some times but the reward is so great!
My cooking triumphs
Nothing is my triumph, it is God's grace. He blesses us each day with our abilities.
With that said, my greatest triumph is each wedding cake I am able to create. I also love the broccoli casserole recipe my 12 year daughter made when she was 9. Another thing I like is salsa and fair pickles (a recipe from my husband's grandmother).
My cooking tragedies
I made a pork loin stuffed with rice, cranberries and apples one time for a dinner party. It did not bake nearly the time it needed to as the oven was some how turned off! The meat was done but the rice was still hard! Thankfully dessert was great!
