Cream Cheese Squares

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2015
I'm not much of a pastry chef so I get very excited when I find a tasty recipe that I can execute properly. This has become my absolute go to recipe. I've made it several times just as written with great success. I've also made it using one package of cream cheese and a can of pie filling layered on top of it. A better chef could probably make this really fancy but for cooks like me this recipe is perfect as it is.

Sarah's Banana Bread Muffins

Great recipe as is. I had somd over ripe bananas and had the choice of throwing them away or making something with them. I chose this recipe because it was quick, easy and used pantry ingredients. Glad I chose I it because I will make them again and again. Thanks so mych for sharing.

Salt and Garlic Bagel Chips

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2014
I literally make these every week. I buy day old bagels at the deli and adjust the seasoning according to whatever flavor bagels are on sale. But this recipe as it stands is still the best. Experiment if you want but this is a five star recipe on its own.

Mild Curry Powder

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2014
I'm new to curry and my itty bitty local market doesn't stock the prepared version. So to save myself a 20 mile trip to the big city I made this using ingredients available locally. I plan on keeping it as a base and working from there. So happy I found this recipe. I know I'll build from it again and again.

Hot Artichoke and Crab Dip

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2013
I'm proud to be the first person to rate this recipe. I made this to bring to a Superbowl Party and was concerned that there would be any left to bring as we kept "sampling" it. It has a great taste and the cayenne provided just enough bite without being too overwhelming. I'm sure other more experienced cooks will have suggestions how to make this better but for me it's just perfect. It will be definitely be an addition to my entertaining menu.

Best of the Best Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2012
I rarely review recipes but this one was so good I couldn't resist. I made this recipe exactly as written. I did not add lemon or vanilla or anything else that would change the taste and then complain I didn't like the taste. These muffins were light and had just the right balance of sweet against the tartness of the blueberries. I used fresh pick from Maine blueberries. I'm not a very good baker but these were easy and soooo good that I will make them again & again. (PS I did make my own buttermilk using the proportions noted in another review here).

Easy Apple Cinnamon Muffins

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2011
I am very pleased to be the first one to review this recipe. Muffins were light and moist and delicious. The only change I made (and I hesitate to rate recipes after I've made any changes) was I pulverized walnuts and used in place of the white flour in the topping. I hope more people look at this recipe. It's a keeper.

Sweet, Sticky and Spicy Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2010
I have to admit I've never made anything like this before so this review is based on taste not authenticity. The hot certainly was HOT (but that is an individual preference I guess) but it balanced out very nicely with the sweet aftertastes. My husband suggested (with tears rolling down his cheeks!) that I make this again next week but add a little crunch like water chestnuts or celery. I think adding cashews or sesame seeds would be good too. This recipe is a great starting point for me to a whole new cooking cuisine. I WILL make it again, exactly as written. Thanks Kate. This one's a keeper.

Perfect just as it is but I added garlic simply because I love garlic. Highly recommend this recipe.

Sweet Potato Gnocchi

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2009
My mother used to make these when I was a kid. After cutting them into sections she used to roll them with the back tines of a fork for a better look and more uniform cooking. I served them as a side with a simple lemon pepper butter drizzle and they were great. A good recipe and I wouldn't change a thing.

Vodka Blueberry Liqueur

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2009
I don't know why people think this too strong. Hello! It's VODKA, not fruit punch. I made a huge quantity (1 1/2 gallons) for a buffet cookout. I provided fresh lemonade for those that wanted to "cut" the blueberry flavor and alcohol content. Of about 90 attendees there was not one person who didn't think the straight or mixed liquor was anything less than fabulous. I used less sugar but that was only because I didn't have enough. FYI, the longer it sits, the sweeter it gets.

Corn and Black Bean Salad

I've made this several times. I love the dressing. I recommend adding additional veggies to aid the appearance and the texture. I add some white onion, red and/or green bell pepper and celery to give it crunch.

Catholic Blended Margaritas

I like this recipe vs the traditional Margarita. I used 1/2 the confectioner's sugar and no salt but that is just a personal choice.

Pork and Pepper Stir Fry

This was delicious!. I do not know what hot chili paste is nor could I find it in the store so I added one tablespoon premium chili powder to one tablespoon tomato paste. That was the only change I made. This is a keeper and I will make it again and again and again.....

Pepperoncini Beef

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2009
My husband loved this dish but I thought it was a little bland. Lots of heat, but lacking in flavor. Perhaps my taste buds were burned out. I will make it again but next time I will use half of the juice and add some beef broth and seasonings.

Blue Rita

I brought this recipe to my local tavern to "test drive" before I bought the ingredients. It was a huge hit! Everyone in the bar loved the alcohol combination and the owner even added it to his cocktail list. Thanks so much for the recipe!

Chicken Piccata with Artichoke Hearts

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2009
Wow- this is really good. I picked this recipe only because I had the ingredients on hand and I'm so glad I did. I made no substitutions and I don't really think it needs any. Served it with angel hair pasta and crusty bread. It was delicious.

Jimmy's Mexican Pizza

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2009
I made a couple of changes just to make it lower in fat and a little healthier. I used a prepared whole wheat pizza crust instead of the tortillas. I also grilled and shredded a chicken breast and seasoned the cooked chicken using the same seasoning in the recipe. I served low fat sour cream and prepared salsa on the side. I used the cheeses as suggested because that is too important to the flavor to scimp on.
