About 3 years ago I didn't know anything about cooking but I had to learn when I moved in with my boyfriend. I realized that I absolutely LOVE cooking and I enjoy trying something new almost everyday. I follow recipes the first time but I have discovered my own tastes and like to add/subsistute things depending on my tastes, or if I want to achieve a slightly different flavor.
My favorite things to cook
I really enjoy making homemade soups and stews. I also love seafood and enjoy cooking some type of fish atleast 3 times a month.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Cooking and/or baking anything with my Nana. She is the best cook in the family and she taught me to bake at a young age. She is by far the best grandma in the world and I love her and cherish her dearly <3
My cooking triumphs
I wanted to bring something homemade to a christmas party at one of my boyfriends aunts house. It was my first time ever bringing something I prepared and I was really nervous. I had a recipe for baked beans that I doctored up a bit and added a few things to suit my taste and let the beans simmer until we left. It was the first food item eaten and there wasn't any leftovers. I still get compliments on those beans! It was enough to make me realize I could be a great cook and I am glad I continued because I love cooking.
My cooking tragedies
Ha! The first time I ever made dinner for my boyfriend I chose to make meatloaf. I followed the recipe exactly or so I thought! I didn't season the meat at all, not even salt, pepper, nothing!
My boyfriend was so sweet, he still ate it and told me that it was wonderful even when I heard him gagging =-D
He's a sweet heart! We joke about that now and he tells me that I have turned out to be a great cook. (almost better than his mom)
