Apple Pie by Grandma Ople
The best apple pie ever! This gets rave reviews every time I make it and everyone wants this recipe. It's my go to apple pie recipe. The only thing I do differently is to double the sugar/butter liquid and pour slowly over the pie until it's full. I don't always every drop of the extra liquid, but usually use most of it. I use the "Foolproof Pie Dough" from America's Test Kitchen that they used for their blueberry pie. It's the very best pie dough I've ever had or made. Perfect and flaky every time. Gourmet Grilled Cheese Sandwiches
I love a nice grilled cheese sandwich with some tomato soup for lunch during the colder months, but wanted something more than the same old tired slice of cheese between bread slices. This is a pretty good sandwich. While I wouldn't say it's really gourmet (which I am actually glad for as some of the gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches I've seen don't sound very good), it is pretty tasty. I reconfigured the serving size to one as I was just making it for myself. Then I made it once as written-it was good but I thought needed some tweaking. So the next time I switched it up to my own preferences. I used the amount of mayo and cream cheese called for, but doubled the shredded cheese as I thought it needed less sauce and more cheese. It made enough of the mix for 3 sandwiches even though I had reduced the servings to one, which meant I had grilled cheese three days in a row-not a problem for me. I also used a little less than the recipe called for of plain garlic powder as there is plenty of salt already in the other ingredients. I chopped up some tomatoes and added them, I used several of my favorite cheeses instead of just the colby and I used a really nice sliced sourdough sandwich bread, then cooked it on my cuisinart griddler so it would cook on both sides at once. I think using a griddle of that type makes a much nicer sandwich. Overall, it's a nice change from plain grilled cheese.

Buttermilk Honey Wheat Bread
This is a very nice loaf. The only change I make is to use melted butter (not margerine) in place of the oil. I use my bread machine set on basic/medium, and it comes out with a nice crust. For those who mentioned it as more batter like or too soft a dough, this is common in all bread making. Depending on the temperature, moisture in the air and moisture content of your flour, the dough will have a slightly different consistency each time you make it. For this reason, always check your dough after a couple of minutes of kneading in the bread machine, adding more flour if needed until the dough is soft but not too sticky and pulls away from the sides of the pan. Add just a small amount of flour at a time as this bread does well with a soft dough and too much flour will make it heavy.
