Another good variation, especially for Christmas, is to use white chocolate, dried cranberries, and sliced almonds for the toppings. Really good and festive looking. Also, when I need a variety of cookies, I will make one half the pan the traditional way, and the other half as above, or with butterscotch chips and walnuts. Two cookie bars for the price of one.
