Very tasty. Fed a small film crew and kept well for leftovers. A make-again.

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2008
Rave Review from me. Best lasagna from scratch i have ever made. I used spicy sausage instead of sweet. Gave it a spicier taste without overwhelming it. I added spinach to the riccota cheese to give more veggies and omitted the parm cheese (i'm too poor to afford three cheeses). My husband loved it. Made it for my birthday, best birthday food ever. I complimented the lasagna with a traditional greek salad and a glass of red wine. Would go well with homemade whole wheat bread if one had the time.

Monkey Bread I

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2009
Very tasty. I put in down in front of a group of people with a paper attached to it entitled "monkey bread". When i came back, it was all gone and on the paper underneath the name someone wrote "more please". So it was a crowd pleaser.

Favorite Old Fashioned Gingerbread

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2009
Excellent, cheap sweet for cold winter nights. Uses very common ingredients that you can put it together in an instant. I will make this again and again.

Cream Peas

Reminded my husband of his childhood when he used to eat creamed peas and toast. Loved it. A make-again recipe.

Awesome Sausage, Apple and Cranberry Stuffing

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2008
I will never EVER make any other stuffing ever again! I decided against the turkey sausage as i thought it would be too much turkey inside the turkey. Instead i used ground pork. I kept to the rest of the recipe. For the bread, i used whole wheat and Challah (i still had some left over from the holiday... I celebrate Canadian thanksgiving in October). All in all, if you want to impress people at the dinner table, make this moist, and flavourful stuffing.

Jay's Signature Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2008
This has turned into my regular pizza crust recipe because it is so good. I follow the recipe exactly and get moist, fluffy crust every time. I usually double the recipe to make bread sticks on the side. You can't ask for a better pizza crust recipe.

It's Chili by George!!

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2009
Went over really well with my crowd. They felt it wasn't the best chili they ever had but it was very good. Lots of veggies like spinach, carrots, grated zucchini is a good addition for a healthier alternative.

Black Forest Cake I

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2008
Very good for a black forest recipe. Made it for my birthday and was very happy with the results. Adding shaved chocolate on top or chocolate chips in the cake would make a wonderful addition.

Hasty Chocolate Pudding

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2009
although it was good it had that 'quick cooked' microwave taste to it. Over the stovetop is always more flavourful even if it might take 5 more min, it is well worth it. So i would opt to stovetop and not microwave this.

Roasted Winter Squash Seeds

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2008
Brought it to work and was first met with "eeeeeeeewwwwwsss" until they tasted it and then went "MMMMMM!!!!". A good snack, and something contructive for the seeds of my winter squash meals.

Grandma's Polish Perogies

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2008
very tasty. Did not use the powdered cheese. The dough was one of the best ones i've used. Very stretchy yet firm. Holds its ground when you pull it out on a perogi maker.

Beef Cabbage Hash

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2008
Very good for just cabbage, meat, onions and potatoes. I added Worcestershire sauce which turned it from "hmm" to "WOW!". I added about 1 tsp to the meat while it cooked then 1 1/2 tsp. to it when i added the veggies. I also followed the other's advice and added garlic (two cloves). Very good for a inexpensive meal!

Slow Cooker Homemade Beans

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2009
Went well with my family. You do need to soak beans and then boil them. They still were a bit tough in the end, so i would recommend soaking over a whole day and not just overnight.

Vinegar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2008
Everyone was very apprehensive of the name till they tried it. Most people had the misconception that they would taste vinegary, which they do not. They are very tender, buttery tasting cookies. I also added fruit bits to it to give more definition to the flavors. Otherwise it'll taste a bit too buttery and greasy, like you picked up a crispy piece of butter. Overall it's an average cookie.

Fluffy Pancakes with Wheat Germ and Applesauce

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2008
okay for homemade pancakes. Not as fluffy as i wold have liked it to be though. Maybe it was my fault, but the store mixes have 10x more bubbles than what these made. good flavor and texture though.

Orange Glazed Carrots

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2008
I had to add corn starch to make it less runny and stick to the carrots better. Otherwise it tastes like carrots in hot orange juice. Thickening agent is a must.
