This was my first attempt at Shepherd's Pie. I made a few modifications & a couple mistakes but it still turned out great! My husband is a very picky eater from Africa and most American dishes do not have enough 'taste' for him but he really liked this dish. I will definitely be making this again. I took a few shortcuts; some for time and some by mistake or necessity. I used instant potatoes, canned peas & carrots, forgot to use flour at all, used boullion but increased the ketchup to 1/4 cup. I also used vinegar in the ground beef - vinegar brings out the flavor in all meats, I use it a lot. Without the flour it was a little wetter than it was supposed to be but it was still very good. I added garlic powder & chopped onion to the potatoes and sprinkled them with a small amount of shredded cheddar 15 minutes before it was done. It will be fun to try this different ways. I am enjoying this website and all the reviews are SO helpful!! Thanks to everyone who offers feedback and thanks to those who put the site together. Kudos to all of you.
