I have tried this recipe twice now. The first time I made it exactly according to the recipe. No one in the house would eat it. It was very bland and the bacon was really mushy. Now after reading some reviews I made some changes. I used 1/2 cup of butter and flour, I used half the amount of pepper (more for personal taste than anything), and I cut back the milk only using 3 cups and adding 3 cups of chicken broth. I also kept the bacon to put on the top instead of cooking with it. With my changes, the soup becomes 5-stars for our family!
