Baked Beef Stew

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2010
I made this during a recent snowstorm. What a great warm comfort food meal. I added in some corn and peas, but other than that I made it as listed. It was really good with a loaf of crusty french bread. We had enough for leftovers and it might have been even better the second time.

Golden Crescent Rolls

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2010
I've made this several times now and it's my go to recipe for crescent rolls. I use my bread machine and substitute butter for the shortening. It also makes great cinnamon rolls. On one occasion, I didn't brush the dough with butter before rolling up and they were a little dry and not as tasty. Other than that...it's a home run every time.

Seven Layer Dinner

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2010
I was excited to find this recipe. It was one of my favorites growing up. I had to make some substitutions based on what I had on hand, but it all worked out. I used hamburger instead of sausage and green beans instead of peas. It was still very good. I would like to try cream of chicken soup next time. Great basic recipe that can have endless possibilities.

Chicken Pot Pie VIII

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2010
I made this for dinner tonight. Very good. It was a little time consuming, but worth the effort.I left out the potatoes, but added peas. I would think you could use whatever veggies you wanted or had on hand.

Christmas Breakfast Sausage Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2009
This casserole was just ok. I didn't think it had much flavor. I'm sure it would have been better if I had added in some veggies, more meat etc. I have an different breakfast casserole recipe that I like much better.

Puppy Chow I

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2009
I've made this several times and it turns out great each time. There are alot of recipes for puppy chow out there and I think the secret of the success of this one is the butter.

Amish Meatloaf

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2009
I did like this meatloaf, but after reading the reviews and comments about the sweetness, I left the brown sugar out of the meatloaf, but kept it in the topping. I think that was the right move. It was pretty rich with just the butter crackers, so I don't think it needed the brown sugar. I also don't think I would put the bacon on top if I make it again. Maybe I was suppose to brown it first, but I didn't think it got done and it kept the sauce from sticking to the meatloaf. Overall, it was good recipe and I'll use it again.

Chocolate Revel Bars

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2009
These were very good. I made them for work and everyone loved them. I think the key is not to overbake; they're better if they are a little chewy.

Rhubarb Crunch

Reviewed: May 23, 2009
This was a great recipe. After reading other reviews, I've come to the conclusion that the ratio of fruit to crunch is a personal preference. I would say use this recipe as a base and modify it to your taste. I used 5c of rhubarb made the topping as directed. The flavor and texture of the crunch part is great.

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2009
Just got done making Valentine cut-out cookies with this recipe. It was easy to roll out and the taste is great. I'm not sure I would want to use more sugar as other people has suggested. It seems just right, especially if you frost them as I did.

Jamie's Cranberry Spinach Salad

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2009
I made this salad for a church potluck. It was a hit. Very different than the normal "jello salads" that normally grace the food table. I now keep the dressing made up and in my refrigerator for everyday spinach salads. The cranberries and almonds add nice texture to the salad.

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2009
These cookies turned out very good. Crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside just like the description. Next time I might try using less white sugar and more brown sugar. This is definitely a keeper.

Best Ever Banana Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2009
Excellent recipe. I added 1 cup of frozen raspberries, made it into muffins and mini-loaves and added a streusel topping. They were very flavorful and moist. Will definitely use this recipe again.

Mom's Best Peanut Brittle

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2008
I've made this recipe 3 times and it worked twice. The third time I added the peanuts after it reached 300 degrees and it cooled it off too quickly. It ended up a ball of goo and nuts. If you follow the recipe exactly, it turns out perfect everytime. Be sure to have the butter and soda ready beforehand. You have to work fast after you take it from the heat. I was always too chicken to try peanut brittle, but with this recipe, it's a cinch!
