I am a physiotherapist/student Osteopath in Nova Scotia Canada and run my practice out of my home. I have 3 children two of whom will eat anything and my middle son who will eat anything with sugar! It is always a challenge to work a full day, pick children up after school/daycare, have a healthy delicious meal on the table and then make it out to various activities in the evening....ohh....and there is always homework. I recently discovered this site and am finding the user ratings extremely helpful....and have not been disappointed.
My favorite things to cook
I much prefer baking to cooking and have mastered most baking challenges. I find cooking less fun as I make a mess in the kitchen and the food is gone in minutes....but I am learning that planning and making ahead are the keys to success.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I always bake a ton of sweets at Christmas time and send some of everything to my dad in Vancouver (British Columbia). He enjoys the fond memories of my mom's Christmas baking and feels a little closer to his three daughters here on the East Coast when he can't be home with us over the holidays.
My cooking triumphs
I am known for my baking among friends and family. My "French Apple Pie" is a big hit, as are my dips "spicy crab" and "hot artichoke". I am also well known for my chocolate "truffles" at Christmas.
My cooking tragedies
Well lets just say I have yet to master Banana Bread....I love bananas and can't resist adding just a little more than any recipe calls for. I once baked a banana bread for two hours and it was still gooey in the middle. My ex-husband used to chuckle when I said I was making banana bread because we always knew how it was going to end :)
