Upside Down Turkey

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2009
Made a fabulous turkey! I made a 13 lb turkey, cooked it upside down for two hours then flipped it right side up and took the foil covering off for 2 hours. It had a nice brown crust. The white meat was amazing. I used the whole stick of butter as directed and put half an apple in the middle too. Will definitely cook this way again.

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2009
Great Meatloaf, only gave 4 stars because of all the changes I made. I made the meatloaf with minced onions instead of real, only used 1/2 cup of milk and it was too runny so I added more crushed crackers. I also only put in a tsp of salt. I put the glaze on top(with 15 minutes left) but I only put in 1/4 cup brown sugar , it was still really sweet next time I'll put in even less. With all the changes it turned out great!

Mom's Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2009
Was great! I made a few changes though. I used 2 cups elbow macaroni, plus I took another reviewers advice and put extra shredded cheddar cheese on top of the macaroni before baking. I also didn't think the bread crumbs were that good, so I substituted crushed Ritz crackers in for the bread crumbs. I liked the slight crunch. Over all it was a hit!

Fresh Pear Pie

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2009
Love it! Like apple pie only better because I don't like the way apples in apple pie are sometimes hard/crunchy. Very simple too if you only have an hour and 20 minutes to make a pie. Because of time constraints I used refrigerated pie crusts and 5 D'Anjou Pears. Prep time was 20 minutes. I skipped the lemon rind. Then on the top crust I brushed on melted butter and put some sugar on top. I baked it at 450 for 10 and then 350 for 40 and it was perfect!

Thirty Minute Cocoa Cake With Quick Cocoa Frosting

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2009
Love it! If you want a quick chocolate cake, this is it! I didn't have buttermilk so I used sour milk. Great recipe. Especially for a homemade cake. I didn't put nuts in the topping but it didn't really need it. Plus if the frosting is to runny poor it on the cake then stick it in the frig for a couple minutes.

Chocolate Chip Snack Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2009
Amazing cake! I didn't know whether to use a cake mix with pudding or without. So I took a chance and used a cake mix with pudding and then I still added the instant vanilla pudding. Wonderful, very moist. I thought it would be to much chocolate but it was perfect. I was worried the powdered sugar would melt because you put it on the chocolate which is kinda melted so I stuck it in the refrigerator for 5 minutes and the powdered sugar was still there the next day. My husband took the leftovers to work the next day and everyone loved it.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough + Cupcake = The BEST Cupcake. Ever.

I love to bake cupcakes and am always looking for a new recipe but this one turned out dry and you couldn't even tell there was cookie in it. Not a hit in my book.

Cinnamon Rolls

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2009
AMAZING! I loved these! They tasted better than any other cinnamon rolls I've made and are much easier to make. I cut the recipe in half. (You either need a 9oz cake mix or to measure out half of a 18.25 oz one) I also froze some of the cinnamon rolls, they tasted great, just pop them in the oven and they were wonderful. Almost no difference from being freshly baked. I do recommend using a different filling. Mine was (for a half recipe) 3/4 cup light brown sugar, 2 tsp. cinnamon and 1/4 tsp ground cloves (optional). The only drawback was the recipe said they take 40 minutes when they take 1 hour and 40 minutes. They are so worth it though!
