About this Cook
I'm a long time baker(my first love) who also loves to cook. I am a recent newlywed so I am getting to cook a lot more often than I used too.
My favorite things to cook
I am a dessert person though I do love regular cooking. My favorite types of desserts to make are cakes, cupcakes and pies. I love to try new things. When it comes to regular cooking I love to cook fish, also fried sweet potatoes are one of my favorite things to make.
My favorite family cooking traditions
MY great grandmother is the best cook ever. After she died a family member actually made up a book of her recipes for everyone in our family. Her Mile High Lemon Pie is a family legend.
My cooking triumphs
When I perfected my fried sweet potatoes recipe, that was a personal triumph. Also I have a buttermilk devils food cake with white chocolate cream cheese frosting that my friends and family call my famous cake and have even had people try to pay me to make it.
My cooking tragedies
I have been cooking/baking since I was really young. The only real tragedy I remember was when I was 7 and my sister and I threw all the chocolate cookie ingredients in a bowl together at once then made one big cookie. It was very soupy before it went in the oven, after well it was very inedible.

Upside Down Turkey
Made a fabulous turkey! I made a 13 lb turkey, cooked it upside down for two hours then flipped it right side up and took the foil covering off for 2 hours. It had a nice brown crust. The white meat was amazing. I used the whole stick of butter as directed and put half an apple in the middle too. Will definitely cook this way again.

Brown Sugar Meatloaf
Great Meatloaf, only gave 4 stars because of all the changes I made. I made the meatloaf with minced onions instead of real, only used 1/2 cup of milk and it was too runny so I added more crushed crackers. I also only put in a tsp of salt. I put the glaze on top(with 15 minutes left) but I only put in 1/4 cup brown sugar , it was still really sweet next time I'll put in even less. With all the changes it turned out great!

Fresh Pear Pie
Love it! Like apple pie only better because I don't like the way apples in apple pie are sometimes hard/crunchy. Very simple too if you only have an hour and 20 minutes to make a pie. Because of time constraints I used refrigerated pie crusts and 5 D'Anjou Pears. Prep time was 20 minutes. I skipped the lemon rind. Then on the top crust I brushed on melted butter and put some sugar on top. I baked it at 450 for 10 and then 350 for 40 and it was perfect!
