Spooky Witches' Fingers

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2011
I just made these this past weekend, I used the sliced almonds they look more like finger nails and I spinkled the fingers with green sugar spinkles for the kids. I didn't want to creep them out too much.

Filipino Lumpia

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2011
I make lumpia all the time. I don't add cabbage, but I do add green pepper. To kick it up a bit I take half my meat mixture and add a couple of chopped serrano peppers and some cilantro. I also use at least a head of garlic. No green onions, soy sauce, garlic powder. If you can't find lumpia wrappers spring roll wrappers work pretty good. I was taught by a Filipino Woman while we were in the Air Force.

Delicious Raspberry Oatmeal Cookie Bars

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2011
Made these last week and believe me when I say this is the easiest and quickest baked dessert ever. I can't wait to try other jams and jellies. Its just the 2 of us and having to make a whole 13 x 9 pan is just too much for 2 this was perfect! Thank you for a quick and easy recipe.

Blueberry Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2011
I made this bread on Sunday, it is fantastic. I did reduce the sugar to 1 1/2 cups and added 1/4c brown sugar. We loved it, it smelled so good had to break into one before it completely cooled down. Couldn't wait until this morning to have for breakfast. This beat my favorite banana bread recipe hands down...thanks for a great recipe!

Simple Turkey Chili

Reviewed: May 11, 2011
I make a similar version of this chili but I add hot turkey sausage (Gianelli's) to the dish. It really adds more flavor. I don't like mashed beans in my chili so I wouldn't do that.

Beer Batter Fish Made Great

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2011
This sounds great, I do make my own version but it is almost the same... What's wrong with you people the recipe does say salt & pepper taste. If it's too salty blame yourselves not the recipe. I really hate when I read reviews and the person feels they need to change everything, that is not a review on the recipe posted that is a review on your recipe only. Make it the way its posted and then rate.

Candied Yams

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2010
Always use fresh yams or sweet potatoes (boiled until soft), I also add orange juice (not too much) and cinnamon with all other ingredients. The orange juice gives it a really nice flavor.

Greek Tzatziki

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2010
Don't buy greek yogurt, strain plain yogurt through coffee filters..its cheaper. Also strain the grated cucumber or squeeze out the liquid, doesn't need olive oil, I use a lot more garlice pressed or grated. Make in the morning for dinner that night.

Spaghetti Squash I

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2009
We loved this recipe! I am always looking for meatless dishes. I did make some changes...I added lots more garlic, artichokes, dried oregano with the basil, mixed in half of the feta. I probably used more feta than the recipe calls for. Serve topped with more feta and the olives (I used green). For the leftovers I mixed 2 beaten eggs (use 1 egg per cup of leftovers) and 1/4cup parmesan cheese and made a fritta, that was really good. This would make a great brunch dish. I had it for lunch the next day.

Chocolate Truffle Pie

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2009
I have made this a few times and we love it. You don't need a large piece, a little goes along way. Topped with real whipped cream lightly sweetened. Can't ask for an easier dessert.

Fabulous Foolproof Lasagna

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2009
I never boil my noodles I soak them in warm water until they bend. This way they won't soak up all of the sauce. It even works well for pinwheels. For those of us who watch portion control pinwheels are a great way to not over do it. Any lasagna recipe will do, meat sauce or plain sauce on the outside, cheesy goodness on the inside.

Sloppy Joes II

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2009
I have always made my sloppy joes almost the same way. I use fresh garlic, lots. I also add about 2tbs of chili powder or to taste and paprika to taste. I don't add salt because of the ketchup. Best served on a toasted bun. We like our open faced piled high.

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2009
I made this over the weekend- it was good, but the sauce was not the best. I make a better sauce or a more flavorable sauce. I also have a tip for the lasagna noodles. You don't have to cook them- soak them in hot water in your 9x13 pan for about 30 minutes till they are pliable. Drain and dry out you pan with a paper towel and your ready to go. One less pan to wash.

Aunt Teen's Creamy Chocolate Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2008
I made this for Christmas and it was wonderful. I have tried a lot of fudge recipes before and I have had some really bad turn outs. This was easy and great. I didn't put any nuts in it, I prefer my fudge without.

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2008
I made these last month. Thought putting pudding mix in a cookie was a bit strange. Went ahead with the plan. My husband freaked out "what are you doing to my favorite cookie" They were really good. He loved them! I was surprised that they did't spread like traditional recipes. This makes a lot of little cookies.
