Black Magic Cake

This cake was so simple to make and very delicious! I used Tim Hortons for the coffee and it came out just fantastic. I made this cake for my mom's birthday and filled it with homemade raspberry buttercream frosting and frosted it with Chocolate Butter-Creme Frosting from this site. Garnished it with whole raspberries and I'm happy to say it was the best tasting cake I ever made. Very rich, but hey a birthday is only once a year and you deserve the indulgance. Will make this cake again with different frostings etc.

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

I love this recipe! I have been searching a long time for a good rolled sugar cookie recipe and this is exactly what I've been looking for. I didn't change anything, except for adding food coloring to the dough. The thinner you roll the dough, the crisper the cookie so if you want softer cookies roll them to a thicker thickness. The shape still holds fairly well (thick).We had a lot of fun decorating the finished product, and had fun eating them too! Thanks for an easy basic recipe!

Fresh Pear Cake

I was looking for a recipe to use up my ripe pears and found this. It was very easy to make, easy to modify, and very tasty. I used half the sugar the recipe called for, as well as half the spices. Instead of just oil, I melted 1/4 cup of butter in the measuring cup and topped the rest with oil. I did not use pecans, and also used 2 eggs instead of 4 egg whites. I do not have a bundt pan, but I had enough batter for 6 muffins and a loaf. The muffins took about 20 minutes, and the loaf took close to an hour. I then mixed icing sugar, milk, and vanilla to make a glaze and drizzled it over the loaf. Delicious! Don't be afraid to play around with this recipe and make your own little modifications. I can totally see me making this again, except with apples instead of pears.

Nacho Cheese Sauce

It was pretty good, but not as good as I expected. It was missing something; I added a bit of mustard to try get the flavor that I wanted. It helped a bit but there is still something missing. I guess I will have to experiment a bit more next time.

Pumpkin Pie Spice II

Quick and easy recipe for pumpkin pie spice. No need to buy it from the store; make your own! I already had all the individual spices in my cupboard so it was that much easier.I tripled the batch and stored the rest in a spice bottle. Great recipe!

Pumpkin Spiced and Iced Cookies

Wow, I have no complaints about this recipe at all. So delicious and makes my home smell like the holidays too! I had my doubts at first because the mixture wasn't typical cookie dough texture, but my doubts were gone once I pulled the first batch out of my oven. They are more "cakey" than regular cookies so if you are a fan of the crunchy cookies than this might not be for you. The only things I changed was I used my own pumpkin puree and added almonds instead of walnuts (I was out of walnuts). I also used a bit more pumpkin pie spice than the recipe called for. I used the Pumpkin Pie Spice II on this site. A+ recipe!

Pizza Pasta

I was looking for supper ideas and I found this recipe. It was so good! It was like a lasagna-type casserole. I browned the ground beef with seasoning salt, a dash of chili powder, hot sauce, and Italian seasoning. I added chopped pepperoni to the beef as well as chopped red onion, browned it all together, then added the mixture to the rotini with a jar of pasta sauce mixed with hot sauce. I topped it with mozza and a bit of cheddar, and sprinkled with a bit more Italian seasoning. I took the casserole out when the cheese was browned, and I sprinkled parmesan cheese on top. This recipe is basic and can very easily be tweaked, you don't have to follow the directions to the t if you don't want to. Next time I will add mushrooms and peppers to the casserole.
